Report: Titans Have Some Interest In Former Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley is reportedly visiting with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday and it looks like another AFC team with coaching ties to Pittsburgh has some level of interest in him as well.

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports Wednesday morning on Twitter that the Tennessee Titans and new head coach Ken Whisenhunt might be interested in talking to Woodley as well.

As previously mentioned, the Titans would be a natural fit for Woodley being as former Steelers defensive backs coach Ray Horton is the new defensive coordinator in Tennessee. In addition to Horton, linebackers coach Lou Spanos was a defensive assistant in Pittsburgh for 15 seasons prior to becoming the Washington Redskins linebackers coach in 2010.

The Steelers officially cut ties with Woodley on Tuesday as they designated him a post-June 1 release. Woodley was scheduled to earn a base salary of $8 million in 2014, but after fellow outside linebacker Jason Worilds was retained prior to the start of free agency with the transition tag, the former second-round draft pick become expendable after missing 14 games over the course of the last three seasons with various injuries.
