Steelers Free Agent WR Emmanuel Sanders To Visit Buccaneers After Visit With Jaguars

Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will be getting plenty of sunshine this week as he’s scheduled to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

The Buccaneers could use a third wide receiver to play alongside Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams and Sanders ability to return both kickoffs and punts is another asset that could make him an enticing player to add.

The Buccaneers are revamping their offense under new head coach Lovie Smith and they signed veteran quarterback Josh McCown on Wednesday to presumably push Mike Glennon for the starting job. McCown signed a two-year deal worth $10 million and with that comes the opportunity to earn a total of $15 million through incentives.

Come on Jags. You know Sanders is an elite WR. He’ll help you in ways no one else can. Give him a big contract. . . .

  • Kevin Gobleck

I’d like that maybe then it increases the chance of a WR falling in the draft

I hope they sign this bum, and Hood too.

  • Steve

With you on that Wingy, then hopefully we can get a few comp pick next year and pick up a WR in the draft this year.

If Sanders Agent had any sense at all, he would convince his agent to stay in Pittsburgh. Sanders isn’t an elite WR, however, he is a great Multi-Optional WR. This guy is a great fit in the Slot/KO’s and Punt Return Duty. My bet he will end up going some place and they grossly overpay him. Hmm! I guess he will end up in Oakland or Washington.

Will the Steelers get a compensatory draft pick when they loose Sanders?

  • Nolrog

Depends on the contract he gets and how much he plays next year I think.

  • shawn

have no problem at all letting him walk as i want an upgrade in the draft and i just think our top 3 WRs are too similar … need a difference maker in the RZ

  • Steve

Sanders really never fit in with the Steelers. Brown can run back kicks better, catch better, so he was always in the background. Miami like to give away money, wouldn’t be surprised if he goes there.

  • shawn

agreed … how much u think he gets out there be surprised if he gets much over 3mil/yr … he’s a solid #3 but dont think he is good enough to be a good number 2 … i think he fits the Pats system and their history at WRs very much

  • Steve

Sanders can get 2-3 mil, maybe more if their desperate. Pats are smart shoppers, unlike Steelers. They bring in new pieces to the puzzle every year and make them fit their way. It seems like Belichick gets the most of his people and when they want the Big bucks, they let em walk.

  • shawn

sounds about right … but i get the feeling like he was expecting more

  • Steve

Always expect more, that is human, but what they want and get are two different things. Sanders stock went down along with his playing and skills last year.
