Steelers Free Agents Emmanuel Sanders, Ziggy Hood Both Visting Jaguars On Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already lost unrestricted free agent fullback/tight end David Johnson to the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday and it looks like versatile defensive lineman Al Woods might not be far behind him, as he reportedly has several free agent visits currently scheduled. The list doesn’t stop there, however, as two more Steelers unrestricted free agents are visiting the state of Florida on Wednesday.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and defensive end Ziggy Hood are both visiting with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday. The Steelers have long seemed prepared to let both of their former draft picks walk off uncontested via free agency.

Should the Steelers ultimately lose both Woods and Hood, they will be left with only two defensive linemen under contract in the form of defensive end Cameron Heyward and nose tackle Steve McLendon that have extensive playing time on defense as veteran defensive end Brett Keisel is also currently an unrestricted free agent.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

If Hood and Sanders careers were not great in Pittsburgh they are surely lifeless going to the Jags.

  • Lucus Rodriguez

Id prefer if they kept Woods but they need to keep at least one of those guys

  • Josh Knepshield

Ziggy fits their scheme better. We may see what he can really do.

So, Hood and Woods sound like they’ll be gone. Bring back Keisel, with Arnfelt in reserve, and maybe draft a DE or NT in 3rd round?

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

I thought Sanders were the first one to go, him lasting this long and going to Jacksonville is not a good sign for him!

  • Steelers12328882

Well, there was a handful of receivers ranked better than him, and I think only Tate has signed with a team.

  • Shannon Stephenson

He very well could but I was saying it in a way that the Jags are a bad team and even if they perform half way decent no one will ever know.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Is there a posibility to bring him back?, or its a fact that we are going to chase a tall receiver in the draft?

  • Steelers12328882

Don’t sleep on the Jags. Give them a year or two, and I think Gus will have that team in playoff contention.

  • Kevin Gobleck

I mean as long as they give them a bloated contract i’m fine, that means more comps next year

    Everything has a price.

  • srdan

I think that we won’t let both hood and woods walk.

What probably happened is that the FO engaged in talks with both of them. They both probably wanted to see what is available to them on teh market. I can’t blame either. What should be attractive to either or both should be how thin we are at the DL, therefore they have a good chance at starting on a good team.

if we lose Woods then its a first round DE for sure…but not Nix, please

  • alex

who pays for all these prima donnas to fly across the country and beg for millions?

  • shawn

I have a feeling they will let both walk and sign Keisel … if they do follow thru with this … they get the “Moron of the Year” award for sure !!!

  • srdan

    Man, you’re a debbie downer.

  • shawn

    sorry, i hope I’m wrong !

  • shawn

There he goes …. pffft … the award goes to … sometimes i hate being right !
