Steelers Gave C/G Cody Wallace A Three-Year Contract Worth $3.48 Million

The contract numbers for Pittsburgh Steelers backup center Cody Wallace are now in and Joel Corry of the National Football Post has passed them along.

According to NFLPA records, Wallace signed a three-year contract worth $3.48 million. That deal includes base salaries of $730,000, $1.1 million and $1.2 million, and the signing bonus was $450,000.

Wallace’s cap charge in 2014 will be $880,000 and he’s now expected to back up Maurkice Pouncey at center in 2014 and also serve as an interior swing guard.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

For those numbers, this is a good signing …. Now get Carrington signed !!!

  • Kevin Gobleck

Completely agree! Wallace is a quality depth player and a great spot starter, And hopefully Carrington get signed rather quickly

I completely agree .. really like this signing … quality depth for a really good price. These are the types of signings i would like to see more of … when u see a guy play good … gamble a little and lock him up early at a modest price … very little downside and a lot of upside as opposed to waiting for them to have a breakout season !

  • James Kling

Good deal for a guy who played extremely solidly in spot duty.

  • William Bigelow

I also like his intensity & nastiness

  • Kevin Gobleck

I have a feeling Munchak will love him

  • Lucus Rodriguez

would not be surprised at all if he plays well enough at center that they end up moving pouncey to LG or is foster gets injured.

  • Brendon Glad

I’m all-in on that move. He impressed the heck out of me. Frankly, both he and Velasquez did…but one isn’t recovering from a blown achilles…so I’m with Wallace.

Cody is 29, should last the 3 years he is signed for. Was a good fill in at Center last year and should be able to play Guard if needed. Didn’t really have a backup Center last year, with Beachum trying it. Let us see how Munch can work his magic.

I like Wallace and Velasco better than Pouncey. I’m not sure why so many or so quick to pickup and wash Pouncey’s Jock Strap, the guy had one good year and has been mediocre every since.

Is…….is this kid REALLY THAT good?? I mean have we seen enough of him to say he’s a decent backup, just cuz he has a ” nasty” attitude?
