2014 Draft

NFL Network Draftnik Charles Davis Takes His Turn At Sending OSU CB Justin Gilbert To The Steelers

On Monday, NFL Network draft analyst Charles Davis released another mock of the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he has the Pittsburgh Steelers taking the first cornerback off the board at 15th overall.

Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert is Davis’ selection for the Steelers being that two wide receivers, four tackles and one tight end have already been selected.

Davis writes:

My top-ranked CB heads to the Steel City to fortify a secondary that needs supporting.

Brief and to the point.

In total, Davis has four cornerbacks and six wide receivers being drafted in the first round of his latest mock. Bradley Roby out of Ohio State is his second cornerback off the board and he is followed by Michigan State’s Darqueze Dennard and Virginia Tech’s Kyle Fuller later on in the round.

One of Davis’ most surprising picks in this mock is Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr being selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 11th overall selection. Oh, and he has Carr being selected before Texas A& M quarterback Johnny Manziel, who he has the St. Louis Rams selecting 13th overall.

If you are a Steelers fan, you certainly want a ton of quarterbacks to be drafted in the first round in hopes that it pushes a larger group of players Pittsburgh might be interested down the board.

Now that most of these major media mock drafts jumped the shark a few weeks ago, it appears as though they have turned around to make one more pass. Two more weeks, folks and we can start with the 2015 mock drafts.
