Ravens Have Come To Terms With TE Owen Daniels And RB Justin Forsett

Up until this week, the Baltimore Ravens haven’t been very active in regards to signing outside free agents, but in the last few days they have signed two players that they hope will add depth on offense.

Former Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels will now be reunited with his former head coach Gary Kubiak in Baltimore after coming to terms with the Ravens a few days ago. Daniels, who missed 11 games in 2013 due to a broken leg, will presumably be the second tight end in Kubiak’s offense in 2014.

During his eight seasons in Houston, Daniels registered 385 catches and 29 touchdowns.

In addition to adding Daniels, the Ravens announced on Friday that they have also come to terms with free agent running back Justin Forsett, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Forsett, who battled a foot injury in 2013, only carried the ball six times for 31 yards in 2013. However, like Daniels, he should have some familiarity with Kubiak’s offense being as he played for the Ravens new offensive coordinator in 2012 as a member of the Texans.

For his career, Forsett has 347 carries for 1,692 yards to go along with eight touchdowns. He also has experience returning punts and kickoffs as well.

Earlier in the offseason, the Ravens signed former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith to a three-year contract.

Those are some good players that fill their roles well. Let’s hope they start going downhill.

    Nice additions.

Bill O’Brien loves TEs and builds his offense around them. Texans let Daniels leave. Daniels is just a receiver. He’s like a more injury prone Dennis Pitta.

Is Forsett a “reactive” signing after missing on Blount? LOL

  • steelster

I doubt it, two completely different types of running backs.
