Report: Steelers Permitted To Open 2014 Training Camp On July 25th

Now that the date and time of the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason opener against the New York Giants has been set, it looks like a date has been established for the start of training camp as well.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Thursday morning that the Steelers will be permitted to open training camp on Friday, July 25. He also adds that it’s safe to make your hotel reservations based on that date.

The Steelers will not be releasing a dat-to-day practice schedule for a few more weeks, but one could easily speculate that the first practice at Saint Vincent College that will be open to the public will take place on Saturday, July 26.

One interesting aspect about this year’s training camp is that the Steelers will be hosting the Buffalo Bills for a few joint practices. Being as their second preseason game is against the Bills, one would think those practices would take place during the week leading up to the game that will be played at Heinz Field on Saturday, August 16.
