Due to injuries on the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line late last season, the team was forced to sign center/guard Eric Olsen to the roster in late November. Olsen, who did not see any playing time with the Steelers, is an exclusive rights free agent this offseason and according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, he visited with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.
As an exclusive rights free agent, Olsen would have had to re-sign with the Steelers had they tendered him a one-year deal for the minimum. Being as they didn’t, tells you all you need to know about him.
Olsen was originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. As a rookie, Olsen saw action in one game for the Broncos but was ultimately released by them just prior to the start of the 2011 season. In 2012, Olsen surfaced with the New Orleans Saints and started four games for them that season.
The Steelers addressed their interior line depth early in the offseason when the re-signed center/guard Cody Wallace to a three-year contract. Wallace his expected to backup a healthy Maurkice Pouncey this season at center.
