Steelers T Mike Adams Admits He Was Intoxicated Prior To Being Stabbed Last Summer

Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Mike Adams is probably glad Wednesday is now behind him after he reportedly spent over three hours on the stand testifying against the three men accused of stabbing him last summer during an early morning altercation on the South Side.

According to Paula Reed Ward of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Adams admitted Wednesday during his testimony that he was intoxicated after drinking at nearby establishment for several hours prior to the incident. He did, however, also deny claims made by the defense on Tuesday that he caused the altercation by “stumbling around drunk.”

Adams, who has also been accused by the defense of changing his story since the incident took place last summer, told the jury that one of the three accused men showed him a semi-automatic handgun in his waistband after he was first told to give up his truck. Adams then said that same man told him he would shoot him in the face and kill him before another one of the accused punched him in the face before stabbing him in the abdomen.

“It all happened so fast,” Adams said. “I didn’t really understand what was happening. I was in shock.”

According to WTAE-TV, video of the incident that was captured by security cameras at South Side businesses will be shown to the jury at some point during the trial. They also report that the judge that is overseeing the trial has yet to rule on whether or not Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert will have to testify after being subpoenaed by the defense of the accused last week.

The trial is expected to continue on Thursday.
