Browns Sign CB Joe Haden To Five-Year Contract Extension

Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden will face the Pittsburgh Steelers several more times during his career as the Florida product announced Tuesday on Twitter that he has signed a five-year contract extension worth $68 million of which $45 million is guaranteed in some shape or form.

Haden, who was selected by the Browns with seventh-overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, made the Pro Bowl for the first time last season. In the 48 games that he has started for the Browns, he has registered 13 interceptions.

If any player is to be considered Haden’s kryptonite, it very well could be Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. In the four games that Brown has gone against Haden dating back to 2010, he has eight catches for 173 yards and three touchdowns on 12 targets, according to Pro Football Focus.

As of last Thursday, Haden now has a new counterpart in Cleveland as the Browns selected Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert with the eighth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Steelers will open the 2014 season against the Browns at Heinz Field.
