Report: Steelers Worked Out Former Duquesne WR Gianni Carter

The Pittsburgh Steelers will never hesitate to juggle their 90 man roster over the course of the offseason and it’s not uncommon to hear reports of them bringing in undrafted free agents in for workouts.

According to a Friday report by Bo Marchionte of College2Pro.com, former Duquesne wide receiver Gianni Carter recently worked out for the Steelers.

Carter, who measures in at 6-foot-2 and weighs 212 pounds, led Duquesne in catches (51), receiving yards (737) and touchdown receptions (6) in 2013.

Back in November, Carter was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his five catch, 111 yard performance in Duquesne’s 24-21 NEC title-clinching win over CCSU.

The Steelers could be looking to replace wide receiver Jasper Collins on the roster after he missed practice time during the Steelers first week of OTAs with an undisclosed injury.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

The driest part of the NFL year has arrived…

I would love for one of the udfas to bust out and do something special!

Should be interesting to see if any of the undrafted or other team’s cut free agent wide receivers Moye, Coale, Kashif Moore, Sampson, or potentially this Carter guy if he makes the offseason team actually make it to the final roster. Moye did practice with Big Ben this past spring out in California and Danny Coale looked impressive at times with the Cowboys last year during the preseason.

Five guys potentially if Carter is signed and Collins is cut (which will probably happen if he’s hurt), do any of them make the final roster?

The second phase of free agency starts on Monday as cap space for some teams is available. With 90 man rosters for each team now, waivers of players should increase weekly. I’m sure that the Steelers have 1 or more staffers with a list of the ones that got away from the Steelers in UDFA watches the wire intently for new releases dailly.

Not unless they do something amazing in camp, and consistently too! With Moore, DHB, Moye, JBrown and Bryant, that’s a lot of guys in your way!

This guy looks smooth, I always hope the smaller school guys make it! LOL

Like to see them get some depth at OLB. if Jones or Worlds gets hurt Coach Porter will have to suit up!

the team looks to have some new inside pressure with Shay and Mitch, but we are painfully slim at OLB!

I dont see Moye making the team … adios !

i have a gut feeling that says James Harrison will be back for a farewell tour. At least I hope he is. Would provide great depth. I don’t know about anyone else, but if Jones or Worilds has to come off, I wouldn’t be worried one bit if Deebo walked onto the field. I realize we need to get younger but still, I think he’s worth a shot since he provides depth and knows the system

I got G.Carter to make this team you’ll see
