Steelers Williams, Embernate Still Rehabbing Knee Injuries, Worilds Also Sidelined

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field once again on Wednesday and a few of the early reports are starting to come in as it relates to who is and isn’t practicing.

Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider reports on Twitter that safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Ike Taylor both remain absent. We shall see if Taylor shows at the end of the week, but there’s no sense in updating Polamalu’s situation on a daily basis moving forward until he arrives for the start of an OTA week.

Also missing on Wednesday are linebacker Jason Worilds (thigh) and running back Dri Archer (illness). Archer is apparently ill, while Worilds apparently had an issue with his left thigh.

As far as players that are currently rehabbing on the side, that list includes defensive end Nick Williams, guard Nik Embernate (knee) and tight end Matt Spaeth (unknown), according to Wexell. We knew that both Williams and Embernate would be slowed at the start of OTAs, but we’re not sure what’s up with Spaeth, who missed several games last season with a Lisfranc injury.

It appears as though running back Miguel Maysonet and wide receiver Jasper Collins are currently sidelined with injuries. That’s never good news for young players that start off the offseason way outside the bubble.

Strained from carrying all of that money from the transition tag.

  • Matt Manzo

How did Pouncey heal so fast and Williams and Embernate are still hurtin?

    Athletic freak?

  • Bill Sechrengost

Hopefully it isn’t a lingering problem with Worilds. I think he still has to prove he can stay healthy for a full season, especially as a starter. It’s still very early, though.

For some reason Williams’s surgery wasn’t till Oct.

Not looking good for Ebernasty…I think he needed a clean bill of health to make it…this Johnson kid from Vandy can play every spot on the OL…that versatility probably earns him a spot and that leaves Wallace, Whimper, Ebernate, and Adams fighting for 2 spots…doubt they carry 9 OL.

  • RW

Doubt they cast Adams out of that mix. Perhaps they should, but they won’t – they’re all about ‘pedigree’ here. In other words, Adams has all of the tools, they’re just waiting for him to put it all together.

I think Ebernate is likely out…Adams, Johnson are most probable I think and it’s tossup between Whimper and Wallace.

Call me crazy, but I think Adams is still the best LT prospect of the group…if Beachum had his body we might be onto a legit LT

  • Ken

any mild injury sounds fine to me after what happened in Dallas yesterday.. that was horrid.

  • Madi

Yeah, he’s had a history of bumps and bruises. It’d be nice to keep him off the injury report for the year. That said, it’s so early right now I’m not worried about a cramp. Even a pulled muscle wouldn’t be too terrible in May.

  • Madi

Yeah, he’s the better athlete, which I’m sure is part of it. Also, not sure if they had identical injuries, but even identical injuries can still be different from each other in severity.

Please explain to us how NFL players are “supposed” to go uninjured for a full season ? Just like how is a car driven in a Demolition Derby “supposed” to stay undamaged and drive-able. It’s called LUCK. L-U-C-K LUCK.

  • Labrat0116

You’re CRAZY to think that Adams is the best LT on the team! Bonifided freaking CRAZY !! The dude has NO heart and is NOT a Warrior! Now, if Adams had Hines Ward’s heart/soul we’d be talking the best LT on the team and perhaps the entire NFL!

  • Bill Sechrengost

I think we’re talking about missing games here. Troy made it through a whole season last year (the first in a while). I’d like to see Worilds do the same. Like I said, it’s still very early. I do think absolutely that luck is involved, but it isn’t everything (how many comments did we get about Woodley’s conditioning before they released him?).

Well you did what I asked…you called me crazy…twice…lol

But you didn’t read what I wrote apparently…I said the best LT prospect…meaning he has the best size, feet, etc for the position.

As far as what’s on the inside…I said if Beech had Adams body we might have a legit LT.

  • Steve

Worlds is signed through this year. To get another contract he better show what he’s got. It is early in the year still, so we will see if he can prove he’s worthy of a BIG money contract.

  • SgtSteve

and everyone here wanted Lee so bad, guess WE lucked out on that one…

  • Milliken Steeler

He’s gonna work out for us 96, just wait but…I think he is our R/T where he belongs and makes Gilbert expendable next year. People are all over Adams and coming off an injury, missing time and getting put on the blindside?

I think Coach Munchak will figure this all out by the end of pre season.

RT…my thoughts as well, I just don’t know if 4 games is enough to say he’s not a LT.

No more Embernasty!!! Hopes of a future monster OT dashed !
