Steelers Will Travel Fewest Miles In 2014

Due to them having to play one game in London and another out in Oakland last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers traveled more than 15,000 miles in 2013. This season, however, their time in the air will be much, much shorter.

According to John Breech of CBS Sports, the Steelers eight road games in 2014 will result in them traveling 5,896 miles and when compared to the other 31 teams in the league, that’s the fewest.

Teams traveling the fewest miles in 2013 didn’t fair so well, however, as Breech points out that of the five teams that traveled the fewest miles last season — the Lions, Bears, Packers, Browns and Jets – combined to finish 35-44-1.

One caveat of the Steelers having a shorter amount of time in the air this season is that only one of their road games will be played outside of the eastern time zone. That game will take place Week 11 against the Tennessee Titans.

The Oakland Raiders are the team that will travel the most in 2014 as their scheduled 36,106 flight miles includes four trips of more than 2,000 miles each.

I hope they take advantage of this season. Looking forward to 15, it looks like they will be traveling a lot. At least two west coast trips in San Diego and Seattle.

Dont you think the Browns and the Jets ruin the syats on that? Lets see the top 10 and compare…

Hope the Steelers can benefit from this favorable traveling road schedule.

This doesn’t include our trip to the Superbowl does it? After having home advantage in the playoffs

    19-0, Baby!

  • Jason White

Nope 23-0. You left out preseason.

I’m optimistic; I think they are going to really shock some people this year. Typically when the Steelers are projected are to finish 8-8 or less, they surprise some people and win at least win the division. The days when the Steelers clearly dominate the division is long gone though. Cinncy and Cleveland are much stronger, Baltimore will always be Baltimore.

i agree with you on Cincy being better but cleveland is a big time crap-shoot with heavy emphasis on CRAP ! As for the ratbirds they are pretty much in the same boat as we are, so the AFC north will again be an interesting division to watch

AAHHHHHHH! A mistake! I’m stupid, I’m ugly, and nobody likes me.

knowing Deebo’s fear of flying, i think we just went off the chart as the place he’d love to be!
