The Winner Of The 2014 Steelers Mock Draft Contest Is …

I have finally managed to grade all of the 2014 Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft contest submissions and according to the results that I have, users TheP1414, Gregg Brunclik and Tullydew all finished with 340 points. However, TheP1414 was the only one of the three to submit the Aaron Colvin tiebreaker, so that should make him the winner.

There was one other problem. Brunclik submitted two seventh round groupings by accident, but based on the order of groupings, I had no choice but to grade his first seventh-round submission as his second of two sixth-round selections. You will see that in this submission thread and his submission entered via the contact form was exactly the same.

In order to make sure that I did not make any mistakes, you have until 9 AM EST Tuesday to protest this. If no errors are found, then TheP1414 will be paid the winnings.

I hope you all enjoyed this contest and I am always open to making it better if you have any ideas.

EDIT: See, that’s why you need to check your scores. I made a mistake scoring Gregg Brunclik and shorted him 50 points for the Tuitt pick in the right round. Right now, Gregg Brunclik is the leader in the clubhouse. You have until 9 AM EST Tuesday to protest that.

  • Kevin Gobleck

    Congrats guys!

  • Matt Manzo

    Good job guys!!!!

  • Sonny-James

The fact that these were the closest to accurately predict the Steelers draft demonstrates just how difficult it is to predict any team’s picks. It’s fun to guess, but “mock draft” is a pretty good name for it 🙂

  • The Fighting Ingies

Shouldn’t Brunclik get 90 pts for getting round 2 correct on Tuitt? breaks the tie, no?

  • Steelers12328882

Great job, guys! I think this contest was fun. I don’t think you even need to offer cash to the winner but it’s definitely a bonus. I wouldn’t change a thing with the setup of the contest itself, but you should include the writers of Steelers Depot as well. It’d be cool to compete against you and most of you already post mock drafts anyways. The biggest issue with this contest is obviously participation. Last time I looked there was like only 40 entries. Most of the top posters on this site didn’t even take part. I don’t understand that especially when mostly everyone shows up to criticize all the other mock drafts done by various draftniks. It was a little disappointing to see.

  • Steelers12328882

Right. He scored 390 and should be the winner.

  • Steelers12328882

Gotta give credit where credit is due. The contest winner, Brunclik, predicted 7 out of the 9 players drafted by the Steelers. It’s a mock draft but that shows he’s definitely been paying attention this offseason.

  • SteelersDepot

Right you are. See, check your scores, people.

  • Sonny-James

Yes, of course. Congrats to the winner.

  • SteelersDepot

Next year, I need an easier way to score these. I am now almost blind. This needs to be standardized more and form based.

  • chris ward

Mock Draft Contest is always fun, congrats Brunclik!

  • Tullydew

Well done Gregg Brunclik. Guessing 7 right, is really a great job!

  • Brian Tollini

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this contest and to grade it. This is so much fun for us draft geeks. Congrats to the winner. Did anybody have Archer correct??

  • Maybe try using a Google Form next year, which will capture the submissions directly into a spreadsheet.

  • Sack Master

Brunclik, you must share with us what prompted you to include Wesley Johnson as a possibility. Excellent job.

  • Steelers12328882

I had him too. He visited with the Steelers.
