2014 Top 100 Ranking Of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger To Be Revealed Tonight

Are you looking for something to waste your time on Wednesday night? If so, tune in to the NFL Network as they will be revealing where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ranks during their NFL Top 100 Players of 2014 episode.

The only thing that we know right now is that Roethlisberger will rank somewhere between 31 and 40. In addition, San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers will have his ranking unveiled Wednesday evening as well.

Will Rivers be ranked ahead of Roethlisberger or behind him? Being as the Chargers quarterback had a higher completion percentage and threw for more touchdowns than Roethlisberger did in 2013, I think I know already how this is going to turn out.

Last year, Roethlisberger was ranked 61st overall, while Rivers failed to make the list. In 2012, Roethlisberger finished 30th overall and Rivers ranked 61st.

So far, five quarterbacks have been ranked this year with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco being the latest at 58th overall.

Phillip Rivers is the only other QB that I’d like manning our team. I love Big Ben and wouldn’t want anyone else. But Rivers seems just as tough, maybe a little to cry babyish, but not as bad as Cutler.

I like Rivers pretty well and would have preferred him to Eli Manning in that draft if Big Ben didn’t fall to the Steelers. However, I don’t think Rivers would have survived the bad O line years anywhere near as well though. Rivers is more of a conventional pocket passer and would have taken a serious beating with the weakness of the O line from mid 2008 to the end of 2011.

I hate these rankings almost as much as a hate fantasy football! This is a team sport and the only ranking that matters is who is the current Superbowl champion. And, as soon as they start playing football again in ’14, that won’t matter either. Go Steelers! With that said, I will watch to see Ben and what the other players think of him.

  • Richard Edlin

… and with this, the last Steelers interest in this list ends?

  • Richard Edlin

He’s the only other name that comes to mind but I would have expected him to appear a bit further down the list than top 30.

  • Jesse Murray

Rivers plays 9 games a season in great weather: 8 at home and one in Oakland. Whenever Ive seen him in crummy weather he struggles. Not to mention I seriously doubt he would’ve done very well behind some of the olines Ben has had to deal with.

  • AzheDraven

    Heeey, spoiler alert, haha.
I look at these shows because I have fun while watching them but cant take them seriously (like almost all the content at NFLNetwork), they snub Timmons year after year and they ranked Flacco at 58 despite that god awful season, but… you cant fix stupid haha

  • steelster

how could you not love fantasy football.

  • Matt Manzo

You’re right, 150+ sacks in those three years would’ve killed him.

  • Justin Barlow

so this means that the QBs ahead of him will be….

Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Brady, Luck, Russel Wilson… annnnnd???? Who else? If I see Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, and Eli Manning, I will start a riot. just ridiculous.

Ben belongs just behind Brees at this point. Manning had an embarassment of riches last year, and Brady’s not the same anymore.

Luck will probably be the best in the NFL in a year or two though. He’s Rodgers and Ben combined. just not fair…
