Report: Former Packers TE Jermichael Finley Visits Steelers Team Neurosurgeon

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, free agent tight end Jermichael Finley recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers facility to get checked over by team physician Dr. Joseph Maroon.

Maroon, the Steelers team neurosurgeon, reportedly is the one who fused the Finley’s C3-C4 vertebrates together after he suffered a spinal contusion injury back in October.

Maroon reportedly cleared Finley to resume playing upon his visit.

Finley’s visit does not necessarily mean that the Steelers have interest in signing the former Green Bay Packers tight end. It only means that he visited town to see Maroon.

If the Steelers were, however, to have any interest in Finley, it would likely be for the veteran minimum as part of a one-year qualifying contract. Finley, however, stands to earn $10 million from an insurance policy that will kick in if he never plays football again.
