On the Monday morning edition of “NFL AM” on the NFL Network, Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II indicated that the organization is considering wearing a separate jersey patch or decal in 2014 to honor former head coach Chuck Noll, who passed away Friday evening at the age of 82.

When the great Art Rooney passed away in 1988, the team wore a patch on the left shoulder of their uniforms with Rooney’s initials AJR for the entire season. One would think that a patch or helmet decal bearing the initials CHN will be worn in 2014 to honor the Hall of Fame coach that led the organization to four championships during his 23 seasons in Pittsburgh.
Just last week, the Steelers announced that they would wear a patch to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their first title on Nov. 30 for their game against the New Orleans Saints.
Funeral arrangements have been set for Noll as he will be laid to rest following a mass that will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Cathedral.
