2014 Steelers OTA Practices

Steelers DE Nick Williams Doesn’t Appear To Be Close To Practicing Fully

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year defensive end Nick Williams is still unable to practice and by the sound of things, he’s not going to be able to fully practice until the start of training camp at the earliest.

According to Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider, Williams, the Steelers seventh-round draft pick in 2013 out of Samford, is still recovering from the “extensive” surgery that he had back in October to repair the kneecap subluxation that he sustained last year in training camp.

While Wexell reports that Williams said he’s getting better, it appears as though he will continue to be sidelined through the remainder of the OTA practices. Whether or not he’ll be able to do drills during the mandatory minicamp remains to be seen.

Last year during the preseason, Williams played a total of 22 snaps in the third game against the Washington Redskins and that was it before he suffered his knee injury. If he’s not ready to practice fully by the start of training camp, he really will have an even tougher time making the final 53 man roster this season.
