Steelers Rookie OL Wesley Johnson Squares Off Against DE Cameron Heyward In Wednesday Fight

The Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday OTA practice is now underway and apparently there’s already been a fight.

According to Scott Brown of ESPN.com, rookie offensive lineman Wesley Johnson got into it with defensive end Cameron Heyward following an interception by rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier. Several players were apparently needed to pull Heyward off of the rookie.

Johnson was drafted by the Steelers with their second of two fifth-round picks in 2014 NFL Draft out of Vanderbilt.

No fight scorecard of bout was posted, but this appears to have been the second fight of the offseason as linebacker Vic So’oto and guard¬†Will Simmons¬†reportedly took a few swings at each other last week.

The heck with the fight, the big news here is the interception made by Shazier as Brown describes it as being an “unreal interception” that included a “leaping grab”.

Cam Heyward in a fight in camp/OTAs is like getting wet in the rain.

    That said, I like it.

    Good… lets get nasty

Heyward man, he brings the intensity. It’s a recurring theme with him that I have no problem with. I hope the rest of the Dline gets this nasty and scares our own Oline in training camp!

As for Shazier, I wish there was a video of the interception, or could hear more about it. Can’t wait to see what this kid brings to the table.

I like Wes Johnson. Hoping he’s got a little nasty to him to throw right back at Big Cam!

  • Lucus Rodriguez

When Cam makes it through the off season program without fighting then I will consider it news.

According to Alan Robinson it took a bunch of players to get Heyward off him.

No pads in OTA’s and they’re already fighting? This camp is going to be lots of fun!

Way to go Shazier!!! Sounds like Cam is right on schedule
