Season 4, Episode 115 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with co-host David Todd still out of action, Alex Kozora and I open this show by talking about Pittsburgh Steelers safeties Troy Polamalu and Shamarko Thomas training together out in California. This leads to us talking about what we expect out of Thomas during his second season in addition to having a good look at the safety depth chart.

Alex and I had a few posts this past week that were dedicated to the Steelers 2013 running game so we recap those and talk about how much no-huddle offense we expect to see in 2014.

Pete Prisco listed his overrated and underrated Steelers players on Friday so we have a look at who he chose.

We mix in a few talking points along the way related to the Steelers and invite all feedback based on the discussion that took place.

    Hi !

    Dave & Alex

I listened to The Terrible Podcast Show Season 4 Episode 115 .
The only concern I have with Sharmarko Thomas is durability . If he is healthy ,I have no doubt he will have a outstanding season at safety , nickel or dime back role . Sharmarko needs to improve his technique at safety back position .
Alex , I agree that the Steeler’s will keep five safeties for the 2014 season . I will miss Ryan clark he was great safety for the Steeler’s over years .
I am confident with addition of FS Mike Mitchell . He has better speed , provide run support ,keep everything in front and will not get beat over the top .
David , I agree that steeler’s Defense has to eliminate BIG SPLASH PLAY during the 2014 Season.
Alex , I agree that the Steeler’s do not have shut down cornerbacks but they fit Coach Le Beau ‘s Defense .
Dave , I agree that Steeler’s Defense gave up in the air and on the ground during the 2013 Season .
The Steeler’s D-line plays a important role . Pass rush , push the pocket which makes quarterback uncomfortable which will result in many sacks during the 2014 Season . If not will result in no sacks during the 2014 Season .

I am concern with How the Steeler’s Defended the READ OPTION during the 2014 Season .The Steeler’s have to a better job at Defending the Read option during the 2014 Season .

    Here’s some Examples :
    1) Monday Night Preseason game against the Washington Redskins . Defense did defend the read option well .

    2) QB Terrelle Pryor read option went for 93 yards Touchdown !

3)QB Ryan Tannehill keeper result in a 48 yards gain

    Go Steeler’s
