2014 Steelers Training Camp Daily Blog: Monday Day Three

The Pittsburgh Steelers will hold their third training camp practice of 2014 Monday on the fields of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe and it will be the first padded practice of the year coimplete with tackling and a backs on backers drill. We plan on having our very own Alex Kozora there once again and being as this has worked out so well the last few days, we will keep a running blog featuring all of the worthy tweets from the local media and beyond. You will have refresh this page, however. Enjoy day three and look for the practice recap post later this evening.

    And the hitting starts!!!!!

Why would the Steelers let Sapp interview them. Sapp the Steelers hater!

  • CW

Hopefully the extensions come in this order…

I would love to have Worilds at the top, but if he were going to sign a new contract I think he would have done it by now seeing as there is already an offer on the table. Signing Cortez Allen and Gilbert therefore become the priorities and Suisham after them seeing as while his leg is not incredible, he is at least consistent and the Steelers need that right now at kicker.

That big mouth clown is friends with Tomlin from their Tampa days..

  • Burgh Ball

Wonder if Joey Porter will crash the interview? Now that wold be worth watching..

  • walter mason

Where can I get one of those raincoats?

  • Aric Brown

Glad to hear shazier receives praise with the pads on too… now lets keep our eyes open for Tuitt

  • Virdin Barzey

Agreed. That big mouth bass is a Steelers hater and shouldn’t be anywhere near Latrobe. I wish I was at camp today. I would send my dog after that fool. Hope Joey Porter crashes the interviews.

  • steeltown

Sounds like Shazier is as advertised, so far

  • steeltown

Watch out for Antwon Blake this year, he just might surprise

  • Jake Marion

So what was coach Butler doing during the drill? … evaluating?

  • Matt Manzo

WOW! Lots of names highlighted there that I wanted to see!!!!
Only bad news was Mcullers pancaked but it’s Decastro, that should be expected right!?
    Worilds covering Archer is exciting!

  • steeltown

    Alright Shaq Rich!

  • Xclewsive

Jarvis Jones good to see his name on the plus side of the highlights. Whooping Beachum in pass pro isn’t much of a task, but it’s a start.

    Ryan Shazier WOW!!!

  • joed32

It’s funny but in DeCastro’s rookie camp he was getting pushed around a lot and some people on the other board were calling him DeBustro. Now it’s his turn to make rookies look bad. Good to see McCullers getting a chance to go against the 1s though.

Adams is a beast in the running game in a way Gilbert never will be. But Adams can’t be trusted to pass block right now. If the light bulb goes off for him in pass protection, he’d be the better move.
I say make Gilbert earn it this season. Let Adams push him. Decide next offseason who you want to keep long-term.

  • Iron Cadet

How did jarvis jones look? Really interested to see if his added strength was noticeable today. Especially in the backs on backers drill.

  • Madi

Whoa, I just read, “Sean Spence’s comeback is over” and peed my pants a little bit. I see now the reason is because he has already come back, and is back to normal. Doesn’t help my pants situation though.

  • Happy to hear Chris Elkins is doing well use to play basketball with him at YSU.

  • CW

That’s admittedly true about Gilbert versus Adams. However I was just stating a preference for order of contract extensions. If the Steelers chose to extend anyone at this point it has to be Cortez Allen first before any or the others. Allen is first and Gilbert is only second because Worilds wants to play out this year and Gilbert has been better at pass blocking than Adams, which makes him more valuable at this point.

Suisham would be last expect that Worilds has made a point of saying that he wants to play for a bigger contract next year.

  • Steve

If you hate something, hate will come back. Lets show Sapp how true Steeler fans are and hopefully he will change.

  • Matt Manzo

That’s the biggest surprise to me, Mcullers over Fang with the seconds and now going up against the first team!

  • Lil Smitty

Jarvis looked quick and agile. He would drive up the field and when Beachum moved back to meet him, Jarvis changed direction and cut inside of him. What I noticed about Jones that was encouraging he didn’t run tall or high like in Alex’s film breakdown. His hips were low and when he contacted someone he could still drive into them with power. He looked improved over last year.(so far!)

  • Iron Cadet

    Thank you 🙂

  • cp72

Bro your so pumped you replied to yourself twice…..love it.

  • Lil Smitty

Yes, his influence was obvious. Hopefully, JJ will continue to show moves like what peezy had that made him a player to be feared.
