It sounds like troubled linebacker Rolando McClain could be coming out of retirement once again.
According to a Tuesday report by Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens have traded McClain to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Ravens officially placed McClain back on the reserve-retired list in late April after the former first-round draft pick out of Alabama announced that he was done playing on the day he was due to report for the first day of the team’s offseason workout program.
McClain has not played football since the 2012 season after being released by the Oakland Raiders following a string of arrests. The Raiders had originally drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in 2010 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys need help at the inside linebacker position after losing starter Sean Lee to a torn left ACL several weeks ago. Trading for McClain is certainly a desperate move, but it probably didn’t cost the Cowboys much and the compensation might be based on whether or not he actually resumes playing.
