The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Offensive Line & More Episode

terriblepodcast

Season 4, Episode 121 of The Terrible Podcast is up and Alex Kozora and I spent most of this episode talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line heading into training camp.

We go player by player in this episode and start with the tackles. This includes a lengthy talk about Mike Adams, Guy Whimper and even rookie draft pick Wesley Johnson in addition to starters Kelvin Beachum and Marcus Gilbert.

We move inside after that to talk about David DeCastro, Ramon Foster, Maurkice Pouncey and Cody Wallace.

At the end, Alex and I talk about how the final numbers might just work out and if there are any other offensive linemen on the roster worth paying close attention to during training camp.

I still think Adams has the highest ceiling out of him Beachum and Gilbert. If he can’t put it together with Munchak there, then he deserves to be cut..

Dave you beat me to it on Gilbert. Yes, Gilbert collapsed trying to get across the finish of the basic conditioning test last year. That infuriated me to be honest and the fact he had problems staying healthy makes you wonder the correlation. That was the first year of the CBA off season conditioning program which really puts the onus on the player and the type of discipline that player has.

Every time I hear when Beachum took over for Adams at L/T, I just shake my head. Why did we take a guy coming off of being stabbed and missing practice time, put Big Mike on the blind side? Why would you do that and if you say he looked better than Gilbert over there, what does that say about Gilbert?

Put Mike Adams over at R/T where he belongs and Gilbert will be riding the pine. Look at our numbers rushing when Adams is at R/T versus Gilbert. Put him back there please.

Dave, you don’t like Mike Adams?!?!

  • Steelers@2010

Mike Adams? Well if this new coach can’t get him to play to the potential the staff thought he could play when they drafted him, it’s time to place it in the fridge and say goodbye.
