Steelers Backup C Cody Wallace Can Also Long Snap If Needed

With Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Greg Warren going down with a meniscus injury during Wednesday’s scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills, head coach Mike Tomlin hinted Thursday during his press conference that a few offensive linemen on the roster have some experience long snapping.

While we know that tackle Kelvin Beachum practiced long snapping while in college, Bob Labriola reported on the Thursday edition of Steelers Live that backup center Cody Wallace also has experience at the position.

Labriola was firm in his belief that Wallace would be the first offensive lineman to get a shot at long snapping should that occur Saturday night in the second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Steelers will likely make sure to give current backup long snapper Bryce Davis plenty of work Saturday night, so we’ll have to wait and see if Wallace gets an opportunity to throw a couple back between his legs as well.
