Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Greg Warren left Wednesday’s scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills early and after practice head coach Mike Tomlin told the media that the veteran might have suffered a significant leg injury, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Warren is no stranger to injuries as the Steelers long snapper has torn the ACL in both of his knees during his career.
In 2008, Warren tore the ACL in his left knee in the Week 8 game against the New York Giants. The very next season, he tore the ACL in his right knee while snapping for Jeff Reed‘s game-winning extra point with no time left in the Week 15 contest against the Green Bay Packers.
Warren is entering his tenth season with the Steelers after being signed originally as an undrafted free agent in 2005.
The only other long snapper currently on the Steelers roster is Bryce Davis. A product of Central Oklahoma, Davis was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
Tomlin said that Warren is being evaluated and that he’d have more information on Thursday.
Up until now the Steelers have managed to avoid any serious injuries during training camp. They have one scrimmage remaining Thursday against the Bills before breaking camp Friday.
