Steelers Sign K Shaun Suisham To Contract Extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday morning that they have extended the contract of kicker Shaun Suisham.

Suisham, who was about to enter the final year of his current contract, is now signed through the 2018 season.

Suisham’s last extension that totaled out at $6.35 million, was signed back in July of 20111 and he was originally set to earn a $1.425 million base salary in 2014.

Last season, Suisham was 30-of-32 on field goal attempts, establishing a Steelers record with a 93.8 conversion mark. His 30 field goals made tied as the third-most in team history and his 129 points ranked fifth-most in a single season.

Suisham was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green in 2005. After being released prior to the start of that season, he went on to have two stints with the Dallas Cowboys (2005-06, 2009) and Washington Redskins (2006-2009). He ultimately returned to Pittsburgh midway through the 2010 as he was signed to replace then-current kicker Jeff Reed.
