Steelers Sign LS Luke Ingram

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a roster move late Thursday evening as it has been announced that long snapper Luke Ingram has been signed.

The Steelers needed another long snapper to challenge Bryce Davis after it was announced Thursday afternoon that veteran Greg Warren suffered a meniscus injury during Wednesday’s scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills.

Ingram was with the Steelers last year during the early part of training camp after being signed in April as an undrafted free agent. The Hawaii product didn’t last long, however, as he was waived on August 1st.

The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Ingram off of waivers, but wound up waiving him just prior to the start of the 2013 regular season.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I was kind of looking forward to seeing either Cody Wallace or Kelvin Beachum give it a go. lol

  • Luke Shabro

I hate for a guy like Warren to suffer an injury but I was so excited about Luke Ingram last year. I think you have a problem if you’re excited about a long snapper

    SUPER BOWL!

  • Lucus Rodriguez

any one know the odds to win the super bowl now? Gotta be 2-1

  • T R

He was at camp. But didn’t see him snap

Final piece of the puzzle guys.

Warren will be out probably 4 weeks, back just in time for game 1.

Dave and Dave were speculating on today’s podcast that if Warren wasn’t ready for week 1, he would be put on IR for the season. The reasoning being that it would be crazy to carry 2 long snappers for the first week or 2. I think it would be even crazier to pay 2 long snappers for the whole season because you put one on IR and paid him $1M to sit around because he wasn’t ready week 1. So I think they actually should carry them both for the first week or 2. You can cut a guy that would have otherwise been a week 1 inactive – like McCullers or Landry Jones – and bring him back when Warren is ready and Ingram is let go.

Maybe… If Ingram does good at all they may keep him and cut Warren loose.

AAAHH C’MON MAN! We could have just signed James Harrison to long snap for us. Though we would need to sign a new punter that comes in around 8 feet tall to catch them.

  • Jason White

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Kelvin Beachum could do it. Just another notch on his belt of positions he can play.

    At this point “No Tellin”!

  • Lil Smitty

Couldn’t they use that 6 week IR that DeCastro was on his rookie year. Did the NFL eliminate it because it made too much sense.

  • Jason White

Its actually 8 weeks. They could use it but I’m betting they are reserving it for a possbly more significant injury that could still happen.

Damn, I’m glad i kept my Ingram jersey. wearing 48 all the way to the super bowl!!

  • Burgh Ball

    whew… I’ll be able to sleep tonight…..

  • steeltown

Very nice. This guy was one of my dark horse candidates last year, boy was I wrong ha!

I’m hoping Luke and Greg can chat on the phone watching the games this season and Cody or Kelvin shows that this is not a “skill” that only a specialist can perform. Nothing personal to either long snapper but I think they have been selling snowballs to Eskimos all along…
