Roethlisberger, Polamalu Both Likely Sitting Out Sunday With Birth Certificate Contusions

The Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday practice is now underpay and it appears as though quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu have both been given the day off.

While we don’t know for sure it appears as if both players could be suffering from birth certificate contusions which basically means both are being given a maintenance day. Head coach Mike Tomlin might let us know if that is indeed the case after practice is over.

While we don’t yet have the full list of players that are not practicing Sunday, Alex Kozora reports that he has spotted cornerback Shaquille Richardson back working. Richardson had missed Saturday’s practice with a tweaked groin.

Nose tackles Steve McLendon and Hebron Fangupo also both appear to be out Sunday as well as tight end Rob Blanchflower and linebacker Jordan Zumwalt. Safety Mike Mitchell also remains out and on the PUP list.

We will update this post as soon as the complete list of players not practicing is known.

  • I want to see Mike Mitchell back at work. No need to aggravate the hamstring or groin pull or whatever, just want to hear about his play and get some reps.

Ok, at first glance this post totally scared the crap out of me…then I read it carefully…sometimes language gets in the way

birth certificate contusion > groin contusion

  • Lil Smitty

Birth certificate contusions are very serious. Many former Steelers have lost there jobs over chronic cases of birth certificate contusions.

James farrior played through a birth certificate contusion for his final 3 seasons

To be honest I dont think Ben needs a day off, guys in the trenches that are older with previous recent injury like Miller or Polamalu, yes give those guys a day off but all others should be full bore… just saying we got some new guys that need reps with Ben, as many as possible

If Mitchell doesn’t practice next week, his injury could be more serious than what is being reported.

Grown men getting autographs is a sad thing. Let the kids get more time with the players.
