Steelers Waive Browning, Shaw; Sign Pocic, Nunley

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a few roster moves Monday in preparation for their Thursday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Waived injured was guard Bryant Browning, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in the Saturday night game against the Buffalo Bills. Also waived was wide receiver James Shaw, who hadn’t been with the team long.

Signed to the roster were offensive lineman Graham Pocic and cornerback Dayonne Nunley.

Pocic entered the league originally as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois with the St. Louis Rams. A shoulder injury, however, ended his rookie season and he was ultimately waived by the Rams back in May. The Chicago Bears signed Pocic at then end of July, but released him just over a week ago.

Nunley is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Miami (Ohio). He participated in the Steelers 2014 rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis.

Nunleys gonna get us to the SB, watch!

Watch out for them kids out of Miami Ohio

I’m still baffled we haven’t signed another punter. We have a shaky punter with no competition. Makes 0 sense…

  • steeltown

I know, even if they like his long term potential you should still have some sort of competition.

  • Timothy Rea

Steelers aren’t intending on punting ever with the offense they’ll have is what I’ve figured.

  • Steve

In the real world we will need a punter and Wing has been very sporadic.

  • Steve

One kick is 50 yards with 5 sec hang time and the next is 30 yards with 2 second hang time, too inconsistent.

  • Ken

Maybe they know who they want and have to wait till he is cut. I’m sure hoping their is something going on behind the scenes.

  • unfurious

I hope you’re saying that with Ben in mind.

  • Aric Brown

I agree they should have competition, but his average is right around 45 which isnt terrible

  • Aric Brown

I really think they are banking on week in week out improvement which has worked out so far

..Mitch Berger…has a SB Ring with us.

Pocic looks like another swing guy. Played C and RT in his Sr year.

Hopefully we’re not waiting to sign one off the waiver wire right before the season starts like last year.

It would seem like a no-brainer to sign a guy who can punt. How can you hand the job over to a guy who is below “The Standard” . And yes I know the head coach is not at fault in any of the Steelers shortcomings. Tomlin can do no wrong.

  • Steve

If were sitting on our 20 and he hits a 20 yarder, then what do you say?

  • Aric Brown

At this point I’m used to it, But I’d have the same reaction even if we had Andy Lee back there punting

  • Steve

Not use to any player who can’t do the job. Scouts need to find a punter if this keeps happening. One that show’s up.
