Steelers Injury Report: Bryant, Moore, McCain, Wallace All Sit Out Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday practice has now been completed and several players failed to practice according to the participation report that has now been released.

Wide receiver Martavis Bryant (shoulder) and wide receiver Lance Moore (groin) both failed to practice for a second straight day. With it looking like both could sit out Sunday, Justin Brown could see extra playing time along with Darrius Heyward-Bey.

After being limited on Wednesday, cornerback Brice McCain (groin) was listed as not practicing Thursday. Center Cody Wallace (finger) was added to the injury report Thursday after he also failed to practice. Wallace had missed the final two preseason games after needing a finger fracture surgically repaired.

Practicing fully once again were tight end Matt Spaeth (hamstring), linebacker Sean Spence (knee) and long snapper Greg Warren (knee)..

The Steelers final injury report of the week for their Sunday game against the Cleveland Browns will be released on Friday.

I have a feeling we’re going to run down their throats in this game.

  • steeltown

As long as Warren (and Spaeth and Spence) are good to go, im happy

Regardless of his tendency to drop passes, DHB has way more experience than JB does, and that should afford him more playing time than JB. The Steelers under Tomlin always seem a little slow when it comes to recognizing things like this, especially last year. Redman over Dwyer. Hood over Heyward. Adams over Beachum. I’m hoping the best players are on the field at all times this year.

  • William Weaver

Plus Archer. Don’t forget he might be better option in the slot then Moore anyway.

  • Dom

More potential maybe but I wouldn’t say he’d be anywhere near Moore’s level yet unfortunately.

  • Jacque Strappe

I was excited about the acquisition of Moore. Now, not so much.

  • joed32

    I still am.

  • Jacque Strappe

I hope you’re right. He’s fragile and can’t block is what I’ve seen thus far.

  • Matt Manzo

    Don’t forget Carter over Harrison!

  • William Weaver

I haven’t seen anything from Moore. Hopefully he gets healthy and proves me wrong.

  • SteveM2

Justin Brown may, it appears, get his initial slot receiver trial-by-fire on Sunday. As they say, next man up!

  • joed32

When did they play Carter ahead of Harrison?

  • joed32

He’s been a good receiver for a long time and pretty durable, give him a chance.

  • afrazier9

    The standard is the standard

  • afrazier9

Moore hasn’t showed me much either but this is what we wanted to see brown with the first team will show us what we herd so much about at training and mini camp

  • Jason

Hope you’re right but that’s a pretty good front 7 in Cleveland

  • Jason

No offense but only a Steeler fan could classify a few pre season catches as “recent success”. Lol. Not hating on ya just struck me funny

  • Andrew Grigsby

Good thing it’s just the Browns, sure hope Moore is back next wk. Either way he hasn’t done much in the preseason. I for one are not counting on DHB or Brown to do much. Sure hope they hit on M.Bryant because the WR depth is a issue they can’t ignore any longer.

  • steeltown

Yea preseason is preseason, but from a guy who drops everything thrown his way, regardless of the importance of the game, I’d say him actually catching nearly everything constitutes some recent success

9 of 12 in the preseason with L.Jones at the helm

  • Jason

Fair enough. I do believe he probably has more upside than anyone after AB,Wheaton and arguably Bryant and if he can find a way to be more consisent he could be a weapon for us early in the season.

  • steeltown

    Wouldn’t that be awesome

  • Matt Manzo

No. When they didn’t resign Harrison. I think they could’ve made a deal so he ended it with us.
