Steelers Injury Report: WR Martavis Bryant Still Sidelined With Shoulder Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be a fairly healthy team overall as they enter their first game of the 2014 season Sunday against the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field.

During his Tuesday press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin said that most of the players that missed the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers with injuries practiced Monday in some capacity. Those players listed by Tomlin were linebacker Sean Spence (knee), long snapper Greg Warren (knee), tight end Matt Spaeth (undisclosed), wide receiver Lance Moore (leg) and cornerback Brice McCain (groin).

Tomlin did say, however, that rookie wide receiver Martavis Bryant (shoulder) did not participate during the Monday practice and that while he currently isn’t sure about his status for the game on Sunday, they’ll leave the light on for him and others just the same.

The Steelers will release their first injury participation report at the conclusion of Wednesday’s practice.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.
  • pat

What about Worilds how is his knee I havent heard anything about his injury or returning to practice

  • steeltown

True, I assume was very minor maybe a contusion, like with a helmet to the knee

  • Jacque Strappe

Glad Spence is back on the field.

  • steeltown

    Wait, so McCain did practice?

  • afrazier9

so if he is healthy why did we sign webb?

  • JohnB

I read he did individual workouts.

  • JohnB

cause fans kept complaining of CB depth…obviously. I think he’s a guy Tomlin has his eye on as Dave pointed out in the podcast.

  • steeltown

    Webb could be an upgrade

  • blackandgoldBullion

Considering so many players around the league already suffered some season ending injuries, the Steelers have gone through the preseason virtually unscathed, so we should all be thankful. Depth at certain positions is still quite troubling, so I’m hoping they get lucky at those positions. Of course, we know injuries will occur in this sport, so here’s hoping for the best.

Also I am hoping that the Steelers were doing some experimenting so far, and that they will come out flying to start the season.

  • afrazier9

Yes at corner we need an upgrade, but isn’t he injured already?

  • pat

Thats what im hoping guess you can take it either way that it is bad because we havent heard of him being back or it was nothing to talk about and he is back

  • Steelers@2010

When it comes to evaluating CB’s, Tomlin and Colbert is clueless.

  • fred thomas

Give them a bag of smoke……they will stagger through the game!

  • fred thomas

    Yep….they signed Web coz fanscomplained….IDIOT

  • pat

I have a question what if we had one of our back up linemen say Wesley Johnson was also our long snapper that would clear a roster spot and if there was an injury to our oline I would assume Wesley could serve as both for one game

  • Anthony Tudi

They signed him to provide depth and he has a lot of upside

  • steeltown

I don’t think he was waived/injured, so presumably he was back healthy before they cut him..

  • SteelersDepot

    Settle down, Fred.

  • afrazier9

I just want to know why we carried so many CB and one real OLB, and of course why keep L.Jones i know we can do better?

  • treeher

Tomlin was the defensive backs coach at Tampa Bay. Couldn’t have been completely clueless.

  • treeher

Now that the trifecta of long snappers is settled, I wonder who will be practicing long snaps as the backup?

  • JohnB

    learn sarcasm, idiot.

  • JohnB

I wouldn’t go that far. They’ve had hits and misses like every other team.

  • Zumwalt Fan Club

Im still confused with keeping 6 WR and 6 CB..Justin Brown would have made it to the PS and he is not ready to contribute.

  • walter mason

I doubt players smoke during the games….

    …before meetings maybe

  • SteveM2

Bryant sustained a dislocated shoulder, a serious injury, and he’ll be out for more than a week. This may have had something to do with keeping 6 wideouts.

Don’t be surprised if other moves are made because of this development.

  • Zumwalt Fan Club

I hope man! not high on JB..Or Martavius but he is here to stay for now. Id just really like to see Mauro on the roster. But that will depend of Keisel’s health.

  • Matthew Marczi

The Steelers like Brown because he’s a complete player, even if he didn’t rack up catches in the preseason. He can play all over the lineup and, like Darrius Heyward-Bey, has the demeanor and ability to block. I’ll be breaking down some examples of the latter for tomorrow as a matter of fact.
