The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Injury Report, Tomlin Presser & Browns With Mary Kay Cabot Episode

Season 5, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and David Todd and I get busy right away discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report that head coach Mike Tomlin provided Tuesday during his press conference for the 2014 regular season opener against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at Heinz Field.

We also discuss what Tomlin had to say about running back Le’Veon Bell, guard Chris Hubbard, linebacker Arthur Moats and practice squad tackle Alejandro Villanueva in addition to who might return punts and kickoffs to start the season. David and I talk more overs and unders as it relates to playing time with several players on the roster.

In part two of this podcast, David and I are joined by Mark Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and she gives us the lowdown on the Browns heading into Sunday’s game. We talk about both sides of the football with her in addition to what has happened with the team since the end of the 2013 regular season. Make sure you follow Mary Kay on Twitter at @MaryKayCabot and read her coverage of the Browns here.

As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here.

My comment is that these podcasts never get any comments. Sad.

  • Jon Crissinger

It’s because most of the discussions in the podcast have a post where they have more activity. Too many topics to debate 😛 I listen to almost all of them though

  • joed32

I’m sure they’re very good but I don’t want to spend the time.

shazier is the guy who steps in at ROLB, he’s a rusher who played it in college. spence comes in at MILB. you keep athletes and good players on there.

  • Thomas Rancy

Shazier steps outside, college style. Spence rotates in at mid. Or you up the use of more D lineman in nickel. Put Tuit in there.

  • MC

I think thats a good suggestion. However I don’t think Shazier has the size to play the run in the nfl on the edge. Tackles will swallow him up. Spence could start at ILB no problems though in my opinion.

Man the front office need to pull their head in and start nailing CB picks. Buck the trend and take on with the first or second pick next draft that cannot miss. Its time to stop going for steals and late round gems cause it hasn’t paid off recently and we are set for failure with what we currently have.
They say pressure from the front seven helps the DBs but that can also be vice versa. Good coverage on teh back end will allow the rush to get there in many cases. Not only do we need pressure but we need “coverage sacks” from time to time, something i haven’t seen from this D in awhile.
Steelers need to lock up Allen now as he hasn’t exactly shown all that much but he still has upside in my opinion so he can come cheaper. We don’t want another Keenan Lewis situation cause that hurt us.
Keenan could of easily taken over for Ike and to have Allen as the number two, Gay as the third that would of looked pretty decent on paper..

me too, listen to every single one, including the ones in the offseason

Interestingly enough, in the Bills game, we had 2 coverage sacks… And everyone from that secondary unit is gone except Ventrone who is on the practice squad… I can see them cutting Green from that unit, but Ventrone should be on the 53, and Toler and Dangerfield should be on the practice squad in my opinion…
