Steelers Injury Report: Keisel Likely Done For Season With Torn Tricep

While the final score might suggest otherwise, the Pittsburgh Steelers were easily manhandled 35-32 Sunday at home by the New Orleans Saints and afterwards, head coach Mike Tomlin ran down the list of injured players.

“From an injury standpoint, Brice McCain had a hamstring and we’ll evaluate him,” said Tomlin. Brett Keisel had a tricep injury, we’ll evaluate him to see the availability of those guys.”

While McCain might be able to overcome his hamstring injury, you have to wonder just how serious the tricep injury that Keisel suffered is. Keisel looked to be in a lot of pain once he left the field with the injury and according to Will Graves of the Associated Press, the veteran defensive end had already cleaned out his locker by the time the media arrived after the game.

If Keisel suffered a tear, he will likely be lost for the remainder of the season and at that point you have to wonder if he’s played his last down of football for the Steelers. According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Keisel did indeed suffer a tear.

Keisel signed a two-year contract prior to the start of the season, but can easily be released during the offseason.

With Keisel sidelined, rookie defensive end Stephon Tuitt is now in line to see his snaps increase dramatically.
