Steelers 2014 Season Over Following 30-17 Loss To Ravens In AFC Wild Card Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers 2014 season is now over after losing to the Baltimore Ravens 30-17 Saturday night at Heinz Field in an AFC Wild Card Game matchup.

The Steelers were without the services of injured running back Le’Veon Bell Saturday night and the second-year Michigan State product was really missed. The offense only managed to rush for 68 yards on 19 carries in the loss.

The Steelers offense could only manage three first half field goals despite controlling the football for more than 20 minutes.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finished the game 31 of 45 for 334 yards and one touchdown. He was also sacked five times in the game.

The play of the Steelers defense didn’t help matters against the Ravens as they allowed quarterback Joe Flacco to complete 62.1% of his passes in addition to allowing two touchdown passes. They also failed to get off of the field during several critical third downs during the game.

Developing.

  • steelster

    This sucks.

  • DoctorNoah

Embarrassing on both sides of the ball. We need to draft a new secondary. Hard for a good season to end like this.

  • Tomislav Ivan Mikula

Hard to be positive, tough loss. Transition year. Lets move on next year. It happens.

  • Kevin Gobleck

Let the yinzers start to yinz I guess

  • Douglas Andrews

Great job this season to Mike T and staff. This team wasn’t even looking like they would make 8-8 at the beginning of the season. So AFC North Champs and a home playoff game= great season for a team in transition.

  • WilliamSekinger

Great season for the Black and Gold. Ravens were just better tonight. Leveon Bell was missed, but no excuses they had their chances and missed every time.

Taking some time off from posting here. See everyone in a few weeks. GO NFC!

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Backfield were playing good until Dumblin decided to start Polamalu…..I thought he said why to fix it if ain’t broken?

  • cp72

Disappointed for sure. We got out played. Still a good season for team that has upside. LeVeon playing is a much different offense.

Is this is goodbye 43 and 92 thanks for all the memories. Two all time greats!!

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

    Ben sucks by the way!

  • Daveachino

Should have left the 2nd string quarter back in. He was doing better!

  • LEM

Thank you to Steelers Depot for all the hours of content this year. I’ll check back in, in a bit after my lymphatic system processes this loss. Also F@&$ the refs. That is all.

  • chris ward

Great season, 11-5 is a lot better than 8-8, still a lot of work to do in the off-season though.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

    Totally agree!

  • Umbra Aeternus

This is sad. Im just not sold on Troy/Harrison walking away. I think someone might convince him to come back just for a last super bowl run next season, even if hes not the starter. Not gonna happen but I love to guess this kind of things
Its hard to be positive but Im happy with the upside the offense has. Dri showed a lot more than he showed before and Im sure he will be used plenty next season. Tay, AB and Wheaton are the real deal, OL needs some work sometimes but they are fine. And there will be a lot more playoffs with Bell.

But anyway, lets move on and ignore the idiots saying “Ben sucks” “Tomlin should be fired” “LeBeau needs to walk away”.

  • newguy68

No excuses. Too many turnovers and their D gave up too many big plays. Really need to re-work that secondary and 2015 could be a very nice year.

  • StrengthOfVictory

Didn’t think Steelers would get by Denver, so this is really just the frustration of losing to Baltimore. But if you can’t stop 3rd and long, you don’t deserve to win.

  • John A Stewart

    Don’t forget 24

  • cp72

    Absolutely….my apologies.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Hey idiot…I have the right to say What I think…..Ben sucks, Tomlin should get fired, and Lebau is a walking dead!

  • Julius Axel

Bell was the neutralizer for their rush, really a shame we didn’t have him. The calls were horrendous, We cannot bang with Baltimore. They got the calls and made the breaks. We needed TDs first half, with Bell maybe we convert. Now I hope Seattle repeats. And Archer is a waste, wish his touches went to Bryant.

  • Cols714

Great season by steelers. Ravens played better and got every single break this time. Even the blocked punt went their way.

Sucks. But the Next couple of years will be fun.

  • SteelersDepot

Let your frustrations out but please keep it civil. I have a lot of work to do.

  • John A Stewart

Also coach Lebeau I’m tired of these ten yard cushin and the zone blitz sometimes you have to jam the recievers

  • steelant

Well bye bye Jason Worilds,Ike Taylor, and James Harrison we have to draft cornerbacks period.

  • StrengthOfVictory

You have the right to be wrong. That’s true.

  • westcoasteeler

    Can’t believe it’s over!!

  • Most biased officiating. W.e

  • Pitfan0513

Just hart braking, and to top it off a loss to the Damn Ratbirds! it will be very very interesting to hear Monday’s podcast! STILLERS FAN FOR LIFE!!!!!!!

  • steelant

Man so everybody can agree with me and say we need an upgrade next year at the back-up RB position

  • Jason Vancil

I know it is a moot point now. But, can some reasoned person get to Tomlin to explain why it is a poor decision to go for 2 so early? Please!!!!

  • cp72

Well said. We didn’t catch a break and they capitalized when they did.

  • Jason Vancil

    And pass rushers.

  • steelant

Free agency and NFL draft please come quick

  • Jason Vancil

Thought we had one this season before Blount punked out. But yes, it is a priority.

  • Julius Axel

Makes it a 3 point game. Right move, horrible execution.

  • Rick M

Yes, I thought Denver would show up the flaws in our defense. But didn’t expect it tonight. I’m not really sure how this team fixes the D easily as there are quite a few holes and they have $50 M in ill-advised contracts to Mitchell and Cortez.

Oh well, an 8-2 finish was great and certainly better than expected. Wanted at least one more win, but it was not to be.

  • cbcoach

    Tough night.

  • T R

Stand behind your Steelers yal.. Look back and know the Steelers over achieved what you thought they would. be disappointed but be very interested in the offseason and look forward to next season. The AFC North Champions Steelers fail short tonight.

  • pittfan

    no doubt.

  • Jason Vancil

But, you do not do it until you have to. You do not chase points. If they would have kicked the XP, then when Balt scored a FG they would be down 7 NOT 8.

  • Weiss Chad

Not now it’s not.At this point I wish steelers were six and ten and picking much higher because that secondary needs to completly revamped

  • cp72

Harris has some upside. Baltimore is just a tough defense to run against.

  • cbcoach

I really believe that Ben was not with all his wits when he came back into the game.

  • steelant

Yeah I agree our 1st and 2nd round picks should be CB then OLB

  • Umbra Aeternus

Im not sure. Maybe, but not sure. I liked Harris and Archer. Tate looked meh. I guess the solution might be just a FA like Moreno or McFadden (IDK really, just the top of my head names)
Im anxious to see them on preseason games

  • John A Stewart

I’m sorry but it’s truly time for coach Lebeau to go we need new young ideas he is 77 God bless him years old.

  • cbcoach

Agreed. Joe is more elite now.

  • pittfan

no, im sure he was woozy, shoulda kept the ball and ran with it. dang!

  • Jason Vancil

And maybe dip into FA and sign a front line CB or OLB.

  • cbcoach

    Oh well next year.

  • Umbra Aeternus

he sucks! trade him and extend gradkowski! Ya’ll saw he rules and Ben drools

    lol

  • steelant

Doubt we have the cap space have to give Ben,Heyward, and Beachum new contracts

  • DirtDawg1964

The better team won tonight. They were able to sustain pressure on Ben all night, largely because they could ignore the run. And our defense needs to step up on third and long. Too many were converted tonight – if you can’t get pressure with two rookie linemen playing, you don’t deserve to win. And another dropped interception turned into points. Too many penalties – and no, they weren’t iffy calls. Just dumb penalties by the Steelers.

But all in all, not a bad year. Some frustrating moments – losing to the Jets and TB – but some great ones too (4 game winning streak to win the division, 12 TDs in back to back games, Big Ben, Bell and Brown having great seasons).

The good news is the D-line now has depth after being a problem the last couple of years. McCullers, McLendon, Tuitt and Heyward are quality starters. The ILB has a ton of depth. And of course, the offence looks set for years to come. The bad news is that secondary is putrid, Jones looks lost at OLB and we have no depth on the outside. A single draft won’t solve those problems. I suspect OLB will be the target in the draft. Great pressure makes a bad secondary look good (hello Ravens!).

  • pittfan

yeah, gradkowski would have thrown for 6,000 this year.

  • cbcoach

So who are you rooting for now the Ravens, Bengals or Colts?

  • steelburg

We definitely need CB and OLB help we are in a great position to fill those needs. We could also use a solid back up behind Bell that has a similar skill set as him to back him up. I think we need to get both a OLB and CB in free agency and also pick up both positions early in the draft that will go a long way in fixing the defense.

  • steelers_26

Please bring back 92 and 99 (for back up DE ) PLEASE !!!!!! Kick out Mitchell and Thomas asap !!!!

  • Jason Vancil

Maybe not. I don’t know what it’ll look like without Ike, Troy, worlds on the books.

  • steelersfan

Offensive line play and penalties hurt

  • Steelers58

Troy is done. Love him. But he is slow.
Love Heath. But he looked slow. Time for him to go.
Let 93 go. Same for 24
    We definitely got outplayed.
We need a dominant nt. We lost the LOS battle to a team more physical than us.
    Bring in some pass rushers
    And some db

  • T R

you bout to have the right to be block from the site…

  • cbcoach

The coach does not have a lot of choice.

  • Steelers biggest need is corner back and safety and then OLB. They need to release Mitchell he is horrible and let Troy go he does not have it anymore

  • cbcoach

I would see if they could work a deal to get Colt McCoy.

  • T R

Definitely OLB is tops over CB..

  • Umbra Aeternus

I’ll guess we’ll see that in the next few months. But Im worried the defense might take a step back when he retires. Im curious to see how would a Keith Butler defense look, tho.
I was trying to make a point about those pseudofans who overreact every time the team loses.

  • steelcityinny

Let’s be real. The Ravens looked more prepared, more focused and more physical. Steelers need to make a lot of changes, especially on Defensive side of the ball. We have seen this too often this year. Like against the Bucs, Jets and Saints (wait, if we beat them, we would have a bye)… This has been typical thorughout the Tomlin era. we also need to start becoming a better judge of talent, prior to this year, our high draft picks have not really produced (jones, gilbert, adams, thomas to name a few).

  • Agree. Miller is not the same, Troy needs to go along with Taylor and Worlds needs to hit the road.

  • John A Stewart

    What do you mean?

  • Hypo Cycloid

Question. Is illegal shift a loss of down? At end of 1st half. 1st and 10. Incomplete. 2nd and 10-flag for illegal shift. Official says, 5 yard penalty replay 2nd down. It now says 3rd and 15! Because we lost a down! Maybe we could have converted and got a touchdown instead of the field goal.
Worst officiated game of the year tonight for us. Missed calls against Ravens (Like facemask on Brown), and a couple holds I saw. Meanwhile calling BS penalties on us (Brown facemask on the stiffarm) Not to mention NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP TRACK OF THE DOWNS! Goodell had the fix in.

  • T R

Makes it a 3pt game.. if you dont make it, still have to get a TD to take lead. was a no brainer.. lose nothing..

  • Goodell is a Ravens fan

  • cbcoach

Meaning that you have to give some cushion when you are playing a big armed QB that wants to go deep often. The corners are not good enough to keep up

  • Chad Sanborn

    agree wholeheartedly

  • We need to starting looking at quarterback. Ben does not look the same

  • steelcityinny

Please, the coaching has not bee nthat good this year. Team has not been prepared in many games, and schemes, game lans very erratic.

  • Jason Vancil

Actually you do lose something when there is still 11 minutes to play.

  • Kris Gusto Williams

    I’m sick

  • T R

Flacco turned into Ben on 3rd down..that killed us..

  • steelburg

I noticed that to I’m wondering if the referee just made a mistake?

  • steelant

I think ike and Harrison are gone 4sure but I think a Troy return is 50/50 he’ll b 34 and owed about 8 million next season.

  • Chad Sanborn

He has to scheme based on player ability.

  • Julius Axel

McCullers had a good game. Hope the kid trains correctly, huge upside in every sense.

  • CodeNameJerk

The Ravens played better I’ll give them that. That said I’ve never seen a more one sided game called in my life. RIDICULOUS HOW ONE SIDED THOSE CALLS WERE.

  • Jason Vancil

Yep. He had an awful year. In fact the last 3 years under Haley he has been pitiful 87 TDs 25 INTS

  • John A Stewart

Me too because they would be force to also make coaching changes such as coach Mitchell and Lebeau.

  • cp72

Heyward, Bell, DeCastro, Tuitt, Beachum, Brown, and Pouncey are all building blocks. I don’t care what round you draft good players as long as they become a good player.

  • CodeNameJerk

Wrong. anthing less than the AFCCCG is a failure. Nice job my arse.

  • B&G

It’s the NFL, so you just can’t complain about injuries. Everyone has injuries. I’m just happy that Le’Veon will be ready for next preseason rather than rehabbing an ACL injury for most of next season with no guarantee he’d ever be what he was. Bottom line: the Ravens pass rush beat our OL tonight soundly. I will say this: I don’t think you ever want a division opponent in the playoffs. They know you too well.
I have pretty high hopes for next year’s team, draft depending. We already have the ingredients for a high-octane offense, though I’d like to see us draft an LT if one falls to us (Beachum to LG? RT?). We’ll likely have a young/raw defense next year, but I think our offense can carry us until the D crystallizes.

  • CodeNameJerk

    Wrong.

  • Jason Vancil

They have to move on from Troy, don’t they? He is a shell.

  • Chad Sanborn

Colts if I have to. But really I don’t care anymore. Anyone but NE, Ratturds, and Dallas. But I think the SB will be Dallas vs NE.

  • CW

    Please think before you type.

Big Ben had a career year this season. He had a bad game with replacement players at running back and that hurt this team a lot since Bell is so important as an outlet receiver out of the backfield.

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

Panty extractors . Get your panty extractors here Steelers fans! Two for a dollar! Panty extractors!

  • CodeNameJerk

    Wrong..

  • Brian Tollini

We got beat. No excuses. Anybody have their 7 round mock draft done yet?

  • T R

would you look the same if you MVP RB was out.. He lost is top weapon.. give him a break.. Bell was 33% of Steelers offense.. and Bell protection was gone

  • Hypo Cycloid

I asked earlier without an answer on the penalty rule. Is illegal shift a loss of down?

  • Kevin Reich

Ben sucked holding on to the ball against the blitz. Miller looked like he should retire. Stupid personal foul penalties. Defense never learned the FB and TE are a big part of their offense. Both Safeties sucked.

  • Kris Gusto Williams

Not saying his name, but did 93 get a tackle? Only time I seen him was his personal foul

  • We were out coached and we need to fix the secondary

  • cbcoach

I can see the Ravens getting there again and yes I agree Dallas may get there.

  • CodeNameJerk

You’re both dumber than a box of rocks.

  • CodeNameJerk

    DERP

  • Jason Vancil

I don’t know what you consult for, but I hope it isn’t NFL teams regarding their QB position.

  • Hypo Cycloid

Should’ve been offsetting, what else to expect from these officials

  • Rick M

Flip defenses and see who plays better, Ben or Flacco.

  • 695hoops

Good season with a bitter end. Bell really was our mvp, with Brown a close second. I would really like to address the corners in the draft first followed by a pass rushing linebacker and an athletic tight end. Heath put up good numbers this year but I think he will decline rapidly. A couple of drops and a fumble tonight hurt. Good bye Troy, good bye Ike, thanks for the great memories.

  • John A Stewart

Ben is a very very good jock and not a student of the game still glad we have him.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Want to hear just pretty things in here?, sadly theres this side of the game too!

  • Hypo Cycloid

Worst called game for the Steelers this year!

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

    Panty extractor, sir?

  • steelburg

The team was prepared well I thought we gave up a lot of key 3rd downs at least three long ones that we had been getting stops on the last few weeks. It seemed like we were just a step to slow on stopping some key third downs. And as far as the offense goes the last few weeks we have been struggling in the red zone and it caught up with us especially without Bell. I agree with you about some if our early picks. But I thought Shazier played well and we got a little glimpse of what he can do.

  • cp72

He is a huge question going into the off-season. Do we pay 4 years 20 million?

  • steelersfan

Thanks for the memories Polamalu and Taylor. Two steeler greats.

  • Umbra Aeternus

Yep. They had a better game and props to them, but the refs were the worst of the season.

  • Chad Sanborn

I think Harris is a great backup. IDK why we started Tate. That was a mistake. No one runs for 100 on the Ratturds. they haven’t allowed 100 yards on the ground in almost 30 games.

  • cbcoach

Well Joe certainly looked more elite today. I seriously would upgrade the QB position with Colt McCoy.

  • Hypo Cycloid

Wait to see what the market is for him. I think 4 for 20 is too much.

  • CodeNameJerk

PLS BAN THE MORONS SAYING WE NEED A NEW QB. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT DOESN’T GET MUCH DUMBER THAN THAT. AND YES I’M YELLING MORONS UPSET ME.

  • Steelers12328882

Defense wasn’t that bad tonight. The #2 NFL offense choked though. Ben wasn’t great, the running game wasn’t a factor for either side, but the Offensive line sucked as bad as I’ve seen them all year and the teams discipline killed many opportunities. Just a complete failure to lose to Baltimore. An up-and-down year with a good ending to the regular season, but these guys really let us down tonight. There’s nothing worse than losing to the Ravens. Just disgusted.

  • T R

your name calling, is not necessary.. you opinion is just that… but disrespect will not be tolerated.

  • Rick M

He’ll get far more than that in FA. $7 to $8 Million a year as he’s only 26. Teams overpay for sacks and hurries. Someone pointed out he was No. 12 in the league in sacks and hurries, which is pretty good.

  • Steelers58

Either in draft or free agency. We need olb help. Then go and get one cb in fa and then in draft.
We got outplayed and out coached

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

Oh wow they are up there pretty good. I’d recommend the mega panty extractor.

  • Seymour Bottoms

Great coaching this year, our head coach had the team prepared perfectly for the bottom feeding teams like the Jets, Bucs and Saints. Gimme a break, this team is not a 8-8 team in transition, this team should of won no less than 13 games this year but they wasnt prepared the way they should have been.

  • steelburg

I agree with everything you just said except for miller he had one of his best seasons this year. We definitely need to revampe the OLB and bring in a CB or 2 or 3 lol

  • CodeNameJerk

pls stop rooting for the Steelers we don’t’ need your kind around here.

  • dan

did he say that, cause i dont recall. anyway, yeah bad decision

  • Chad Sanborn

Agreed! We totally exceeded the 7-9 I thought they would finish.
This was a winning season in my book.

  • Umbra Aeternus

Colt McCoy? Kirk Cousins is da real deal!

  • cbcoach

Pay me and I go away, just like Ben.

  • Seymour Bottoms

Regular season Ben is better than Flacco but in the playoffs i have to give the nod to Flacco, he gets the job done time after time.

  • Rick M

Getting a little repetitious. Is that all you have?

  • Milliken Steeler

There is a difference between making comments based on perception that are stated intelligently.

All your doing is throwing a temper tantrum because your diaper is wet. smh

  • Umbra Aeternus

He got a free sack. lol

  • cbcoach

I saw Colt tear the Cowboys apart in Dallas. He has heart and seems to not be all about himself.

  • Chad Sanborn

That is a great core for the offense to build around. The Defense really needs help

  • CodeNameJerk

They’ve faced off 4 times Ben is 3-1, flacco is 1-3. Now all of a sudden you think Flacco is better. Get real. Steelers nation doesn’t need fans like you around. Go away.

  • Chad H

The pack. Sorry both parents are originally from Wisconsin and I grew up on cheese. Love me some Steelers.

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

All I need bro…have a lovely off season

  • T R

mine too.. just wish this lost in playoffs could come from anyone from the Ravens.. i didnt’ want to play them lucky Ravens.. and today was all about luck.. they were lucky to get us without Bell then everything went their way..

  • cp72

If they pay him for sacks and hurries they are gonna be disappointed.

  • Rick M

You as well, starting a week Monday.

  • steelant

Jason if me and you were in the front office Troy would b gone but u kno they love to keep aging veterans. It’s ashamed shamarko never gets snaps at SS wen he’s playing so hard on ST.

  • matthew

that was a great game all around, i know you guys might not like the results, but it was a good game

  • Umbra Aeternus

Really? You liked your own comment? lol

  • cbcoach

That is a great reason to root for the pack.

  • matthew

    nice to see you chrost

  • Hypo Cycloid

Beachum seems to be doing pretty well overall at LT. Why move him? Now RT is a position of weakness on the line.
Agree, didn’t want to see the Ravens. Wanted the Chargers.

  • rizzo29

totally agree but it,s sad, when your best player is a 36yr lb on defense

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Yes I Should start my sentences with Mr. To be more respectful.
Come on, they are not family, they are paid to play and win wich did not today.

  • Chad H

Freedom is free and you my friend is dumb, you is really dumb.

  • Chad Sanborn

Yes the downs were screwed up as that penalty doesn’t result in loss of down.
I saw lots of holds on Harrison and crew as they swarmed around Flaccid. No calls. Lots of them. I also saw 2 definite block in the backs. One that went for a TD. Im not one to blame the refs usually, but this game was horribly called. And I would love to sit down with Goodell and show him the tape and demand explanations as to why it was called so one sided.

  • Rick M

LOL didn’t say he was worth it. But he’ll get it. He was paid $9.75 Million this year. He won’t ever settle for $5 Million a year.

  • Seymour Bottoms

Tough loss but the better team won today. Also for as much heat as Flacco takes he is a pretty good playoff quarterback. I think Ben is a better overall quarterback then him but in the playoffs i would have to take Flacco over Ben.

  • matthew

but i would of thought the steelers might need a corner ? i know the ravens need a lot to fix there secondary, i believe the ravens are going to lose to the patriots

  • Chad Sanborn

He is a great run stopper. I was glad to see him play in the 2nd half.

  • Rick M

I knew I had the wrong channel on!!!

  • Umbra Aeternus

    So you were serious… lol

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

When he just arrived to Pittsburgh, talking about changing the defense scheme!

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

Panty exclamation point extractor combo , sir?

  • Chad Sanborn

no. If we lost a down that was a huge mistake

  • CodeNameJerk

You’re clearly not a Steelers fan.

  • Zachary Wise

Good game? Are you serious? We had 3 turnovers, gave up 5 sacks (only had 1 of our own), 8 penalties for 114 yards, and allowed Flacco to have a 114 QB rating. Are you a Ravens fan?

  • matthew

chrost, stop man stop, i came here to talk about a good game but got out of hand a little

  • Umbra Aeternus

Id rather lose to the ravens than the bungals. lol

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Are your comment based on an intellingently perception?, I mean the diaper comment!

  • Rick M

    Me thinks yes.

  • matthew

yes, i am only here to talk about the game and to talk football not here to troll

  • Reno

I think his true worth is probably closer to 4 million a year. The Steelers should let someone overpay even with Jones being a question mark.

  • Hypo Cycloid

I am glad you like to put yours up there. You don’t need to let us know what you do in the privacy of your home after your team wins. It does make me feel better that Raven fans do that when they win. 🙂

  • Milliken Steeler

They are paid to play but “Ben sucks” is just an idiotic comment. Look at what he has accomplished in his career and this season also. The season ended early because we played badly as a whole.

I think its safe to say Ryan Leaf sucked. Ben though? That makes no sense smh

  • ma

Thanks for reminding me. You are correct in beginning of season. Makes me feel better after reading your post.

  • Matt

    Whatever dude…cmon

  • T R

oh helll nah.. Ravens trumps all.. sorry excuse my language..

  • Matt

Nope…he got to play steelers d that needs infusion of talent

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Wow that hurts, You calling me a dumb with that writing?

  • matthew

the steelers need to work on there secondary and i got one question does troy still have some left in the tank to play another year?

  • Milliken Steeler

I’m following your lead. You’re on here acting like a child so I threw
you a diaper. Grow up and Ill let off. Im sick of sore losers. Grow the
    hell up

  • John A Stewart

The last time I can remember we pressed the receivers was against the Patriots and we won. With Gay ,Ike and Allen playing nickle. Ten yard cushion becomes first downs and then touchdowns.

  • Hypo Cycloid

We did. I rewound it. 1st and 10. Incomplete pass. 2nd and 10 we were flagged for illegal shift on offense. (Remember right before half) Ref says “5 yard penalty, replay 2ND down” Next play was 3rd and 15. Pass was to Miller. Then 4th and about 6 or 7 and we kicked a field goal. We still had a TO and about 40 seconds to work for a touchdown!

  • B&G

Good point. I’m not positive here. I do think that Beachum is doing pretty well at LT, but I don’t necessarily want to pay him as an LT and then live with him there. If we can draft a good young LT, we’ll have him on a rookie deal for a few years and we can pay Beach as a guard or RT. LT is a really expensive position; I don’t way to pay someone to be just okay there.

  • Steelers12328882

LOL Ravens fan comes to troll a Steelers site and starts talking about panties to a bunch of other dudes. I guess it’s to be expected.

  • T R

Im not talking bout bout your name calling of Tomlin.. i am talking about your disrespect of people who are also coming to this site and giving their opinions just like you. Keep it respectful

  • matthew

that is chrost for you just ignore him

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

    Oh…well played…

  • Hamburger95

I disagree . I think that any quarterback can be Elite , if they have no pressure from the Defense . If you get pressure on joe he will make bad decisions .

  • matthew

take it easy dude he is doing nothing wrong

  • cp72

It was a poorly officiated game guys, but we got beat plain and simple.

  • Matt

Yes, the ben, tomlin, haley suck rants are tiresome.

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

Fortunately I have a large collection of your wife’s and mothers.

  • Steelers12328882

No worries. Great game by the Ravens. They definitely outplayed us. Just wish our offense coulda played better.

  • B&G

Oh, secondary in general is a HUGE priority, no doubt. Given where we are drafting, I don’t think a LT in the first round likely makes sense, but maybe we can find a project in the later rounds? I definitely get why bad teams draft LTs early — it’s hard to compete when your QB is getting overrun on any long down.

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

Good game, bro….had to taunt a little bit…always a bloodbath when they get together.

  • sean mcmartin

Safety positions are in need of upgrades, D-line needs a mauler or two. Trade JJ for whatever you can get or cut him. He looks lost and does not pursue and tackle. he watches plays happen

  • matthew

    indeed chrost

  • Rick M

It’s an inflated-value position. He had pretty much the same sack total last year and was given the transition contract worth $9.75 M when he wouldn’t agree to a long-term deal. The Steelers didn’t want to lose him for 2014 so went for the $10 million payout. With essentially the same sack total as last year, he’ll do well Reno, trust me. Not because’s he’s earned it. But players viewed as decent pass rushers are overpaid. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think he was going against Yanda tonight and he’s a good one.

So are you telling me his play this year was worse than Mike Mitchell and Cortez Allen who each got $5 Million. That’s the reason for the $4 M evaluation. LOL. I know you are way too intelligent to feel that.

  • matthew

    stop

  • Chad H

    Yep have a nice year!

  • Umbra Aeternus

I think so. Last time he had a down season (2012), he played great the next one. I dont remember if he was an all pro, but he deserved it.
Id love him to come back for one last ride, but people are just saing he’s done

  • Steelers12328882

Ok that’s nasty. My moms wears the granny specials.

  • matthew

that would of been interesting, but i thought if ben would of gotten hot he would kill the ravens secondary

  • Milliken Steeler

You have multiple people on here getting on your case about how you act but you’ll never get it will you?

  • John A Stewart

Keith Butler made a comment three years ago that he hates rookies that made me kinda nervous .I think he’s lazy if you ask me.

  • matthew

that’s not right, i like he is a good player this is coming from a ravens fan

  • BradleyT

I’m thankful for all of his contributions over the years, but as seen over the past month, this defense plays better when Troy P. ain’t in the lineup

  • Matt

    Intelligent post

  • Umbra Aeternus

Maybe they had a play between commercials? Or something like that… Its curious but the league probably wont do anything about that

  • Steelers12328882

how do you guys even find this site?

  • matthew

that depends and just to let you know i am a ravens fan, but my mother is a steelers fan so i pay attention to who what they pick in the drafts so i can give here updates on the players, the ravens need a ball hawks in there secondary like an ed reed type, matt elam was suppose to be that but nope not this season, but it was nice to see him pick ben off when you guys went for 2 when you got that touchdown

  • Seymour Bottoms

Hahahaha somebody is taking this loss really hard. Do me a favor, go look at their career playoff stats and then get back to me. Its not a question of debate, its a fact that Flacco is better in the playoffs.

Also Mr #1 Steelers fan, this is their 3rd time facing each other in the playoffs, you arent the brightest bulb are you?

  • matthew

    a friend that was here

  • matthew

i like him he is a good player

  • BradleyT

Yea it really sucks that we spent a 1st Rd pick on J Jones and pretty much got no type of contribution

  • Milliken Steeler

Wow, I got banned trying to keep the trolls at bay. No question about it. Nice

  • Hypo Cycloid

But you would have to do that every 4 years or so. If you know Beach can do the job, why not pay him and ensure Bens backside is protected? The next guy might not be as good. If you feel Beach can’t continue to improve and has plateaued I can agree with you. But I think he is young and is still improving.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

What Ben acomplished has been great, of course couldn’t did it without an outstanding defenses, this season was about him and the great arsenal at his disposal, because defense is falling apart.
Once he didn’t have Bell for the check down pases, he once more became a Big Target for the ravens, it didn’t help the game game plan either!

  • Steelers12328882

Ok, can you send me a link to your Ravens site so I can troll you guys next week if you lose?

  • matthew

just ignore chrost i know him form another web site and it has nothing to do with the ravens

  • Chad Sanborn

That is a bad coaching error too. Coaches should have caught that.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

    Get well soon!

  • Rick M

Colbert’s comments on his big signing of Mitchell.

Q: Mitchell is low mileage, too, having started less than one entire season, right?

A: “Right, because he wasn’t a starter early in his career. Again, you don’t think you possibly have seen the best, but what he’s shown so far, it was exciting because he was certainly productive for a good defense.”

Just a tad off on that one Kevin.

  • matthew

well i am not from a ravens web site i am form an orioles web site

  • Milliken Steeler

I’m actually engaging RVB the most but I hear you.

  • Steelers12328882

omg we’re getting trolled by baseball fans? that’s a new low for me.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

because I called Idiot someone that calls me idiot first?

  • matthew

alright i was only here to talk about a good game in my eyes but it was nice when it was 10-9

  • matthew

🙂 but how am i being a troll i have not said one bad thing about the steelers

  • Hypo Cycloid

There was no play between commercials because there were no commercials. That was an outrageous error! What can the league do? Say I am sorry? That extra play could’ve been a touchdown or lead to one going into the half.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

    Same for you, Thank you!

  • Vic

Time to trade ben and rebuild

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

    Ha

  • Hypo Cycloid

Yeah, fans watching from their own couches shouldn’t be better than the coaches on the field!

  • CodeNameJerk

It is the 3rd time, I got that wrong. But anyone calling for Ben to be replaced is a misguided soul. Holy crap thing about what you’re saying. You would rather go back to the Tommy Maddox, Kordell Stewart days? Are you kidding me?

  • Milliken Steeler

I think its a team loss. That includes our O-line. If you’ll notice and although it was inconsistent, when we did get pressure on Joe, he made some errant throws and should have been picked once.

When he wasn’t pressured regularly, he had success. I think our O-line contributed to our issues.

  • matthew

that is stupid, and this is coming form a ravens fan, it’s like every year somebody says that comment every time when somebody losses in a playoffs, the steelers can go right back into the playoffs and win it all next season

  • Hypo Cycloid

Thanks for the answer by the way. I thought that was the case.

  • Christopher Stallings (chrost)

    And Orioles fans no less

  • CodeNameJerk

You’re the moron calling For Ben to be replaced. Do you remember Tommy Maddox and kordell Stewart? Think about what you’re implying.

  • Milliken Steeler

LOL Okay RVB. I replied to a comment further up where your explanation was lucid and no scathing language was used at the players.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

Of course I do, but I don’t know how to vent this loss, but I am getting calmer, Thanks!

You have to agree that calling me dumb with that writting was fun!

  • Jim Underwood

It wasn’t our best game but the holding call on Beachum when we threw the TD to Dri with 4:40 left was BS. It’s called point shaving. Harrison should be getting 5-15 of those a game if that’s the way they wanna call it. I’m not kidding. lol Suggs wasn’t getting there anyway. So, the officials called the game with 4:40 to play, essentially. We’re too evenly matched for them to be taking our TD’s off the board. The facemask on AB was ticky tacky as well but not necessarily game changing like the ‘hold’ was. You notice they didn’t replay it.. In any event, the curse continues.. That being said, ya can’t win ’em all and that’s alright. Cinci voided our ticket when they took Bell out. I think he woulda caught that ball and gotta 1st down instead of the lucky pick. All in all it was a great year and a big improvement from what we’ve been seeing the last couple years. Good-bye Troy, James, Brett and Ike. It’s been great! Steelers 4ever! 😀

  • Milliken Steeler

Yep. 10-9 seems like so long ago now. lol Take care.

  • matthew

indeed, the steelers will be back in the playoffs next year for sure

  • Julius Axel

Even with Bell the refs would have arranged for Baltimore to move on, just would been closer.

  • Umbra Aeternus

Maybe he is just a perfectionist and he hates rookies because they get to the NFL thinking they will be on the HOF because they had great years at college, and then they get owned by the other team, and they get all depressed and start playing without a heart and so on. lol
If you ask me, Id like to have Sexy Rexy as the DC if not LeBeau or Butler. But that wont happen, so its not worth discussing.

  • CodeNameJerk

I don’t care what you wanna say the Refs decided that game. Just look at the stat line.

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

He missed the check down pases and quick throws and that get him out of rythm, he missed a few passes and never looked confortable, Miller played horrible and couldn’t made a decent block, so it is What it is, very very sad!

  • Seymour Bottoms

You are proving me right about how bright you are. Show me 1 post where i said lets replace Ben. All i said was Flacco is better in the playoffs than Ben and that is a fact backed up by stats. I like Ben and definitely dont want to get rid of him, im just not going to be a homer like you and try to convince somebody that Ben is better than so and so just because he plays for my favorite team especially when the stats say otherwise.

  • Milliken Steeler

We are rebuilding and are back in the playoffs. You can’t win em all but as six Titles will testify, we try:) You should go see them sometime.

  • Fanger

Ravens fan here. Look guys, we get the Bell thing, but before we have to hear it all week, remember that 40% of our offensive line was hurt, with the right guard playing right tackle and a rookie playing right guard. Basically, our O-line was a mess, which kind of evens things out, I would suggest. And injuries are never an excuse anyway. All teams have them.

Truth be told, neither of these teams strike me as a Super Bowl caliber team, and both need some rebuilding, but a win is a win is a win, so we’ll take it, and all post-season games come under the “Well, you never know” rule anyway.

So hopefully we can somehow handle Brady and Belichick. I don’t see how we’re good enough for that, but well, you never know, right?

  • Umbra Aeternus

I know, but if they had lost to the bungals, imagine all the troll heat. Their last playoff win was before I was born, and I wouldnt like the steelers to be their only one this century. lol

  • Roberto Vaquero Bazán

See?, I just need to vent, I am not that bad!

  • Seymour Bottoms

We lost, no need to come up with conspiracy theories, it was a clear hold and rightfully called so was the facemask. Brown knew right away what he did as he motioned to the sideline that the flag was against him.

  • Steelers12328882

    guilty by association

  • Milliken Steeler

Agreed. I’d actually rather see you win than New England as I’m not a fan of what Belicheat got off lightly with. We would have done that, I could see number 1 picks gone for two years at least, games forfeited and the Coach suspended a year.

  • Seymour Bottoms

Haha calm down dude, we lost that game fair and square. The Ravens were the better team, stop acting like a sore loser and give them their props. They showed up to play and wanted the game more than our team did.

  • Milliken Steeler

Nice. I’d rather have it end this way anyway:) We will be back and we are little by little getting better. One more year lke the last two years of at least a B grade in the draft and think we’ll be competitive on the next level.

  • matthew

it was nice talking to you guys and there might of been a few bad apples here tonight, but it was a good football talk and great game go ravens good night guys

  • B&G

Here’s where I admit that I don’t watch practice and I don’t see what the coaches see. If they consider Beach a true LT, then by all means pay him LT money. I kind of get the feeling that we’ve been getting away with Beach at LT this year, and I also think that anyone who can survive LT is likely to play very well at RT, and maybe at LG — Beach is almost definitely more mobile than Ramon Foster. Imagine if we can pull both guards, rather than just DeCastro.

  • Hypo Cycloid

It isn’t. Ben has won 2 superbowls and been to 3. Flucco has won 1. That is the absolute most important stat there is. And Ben’s team is I think 2-1 against Flucco’s team. I still take Ben over Flucco any day any time. But out of curiousity what are there qb ratings. They showed Flucco’s to be 82 career postseason qb rating. That isn’t exactly high.

  • Milliken Steeler

Colt McCoy huh? How about Johhny Meathead? Im sure the Browns would trade JM for BR real quick.

Johhny is surely a better qb than Ben. lol rolls eyes

  • John A Stewart

    Make Shazir a strong safety!

  • Seymour Bottoms

Ill take Flaccos 21 tds and 8 ints in 14 games over Bens 21 tds and 19 ints in 15 games. I believe Flacco’s rating coming into this game was closer to 90 and Bens around the 82 you were talking about. But over his last 3 trips to the playoffs which includes 9 games he has a rating over 100. His first 2 years he wasnt good but since then he has been the best playoff quarterback in the league which is why i said i would take him over Ben. He is inconsistant in the regular season but i give him his props in the playoffs, he has become pretty clutch.

  • Rick M

It was like one team (the Ravens) was prepared to play the game and showed intensity, discipline and aggression throughout. And the other team (the Steelers) wasn’t ready mentally, showed little aggression and was totally undisciplined. That type of poor performance is on both the players and the coaching, especially in the playoffs on your own home field.

  • Jim Underwood

Yeah the facemask was irrelevant. I’m just letting out frustration by complaining. Just watched the hold again and it was a hold. Just want them to call them ALL that way. But officiating is not easy. They do their best. We weren’t going to win anyway. They got us. LIfe goes on. Good job on taking the high road, Seymour. I’ll start doing that when I wake up tomorrow. lol

  • Hypo Cycloid

There were a few clear holds from your left tackle on Harrison…never called.
How about AB being tackled with a face mask and no flag…hmmm
How about overturning the AB TD without any clear confirmation and it didn’t even appear that he was touched…what?
There were more that I saw, but the most egregious officiating error was right before the half when they skipped a down on the Steelers!
The penalty tallies weren’t even close and that wasn’t because of a lack of penalties on the Baltimore side.
Brown was more in disbelief. That happens all the time and is rarely called.
Listen, I get we that we lost. We aren’t playing next week. We didn’t play well. But if you think that was a fairly called game, I don’t know what is! You have to admit the officials operated at a very poor level. They are graded by the NFL and I would be willing to bet that they get bad grades after this week. Would these officiating mistakes made a difference. Might have!

  • Aric Brown

Its obvious that you don’t like troy, but Mike Mitchell was the one getting consistently burned… Troys play was adequate and I noticed Will Allen in the game in some of the obvious passing situations

  • Aric Brown

I think also when you are playing with “undersized” corners it really limits your ability to jam the receiver… example.. Steve Smith SR would run right through any corner on our roster

  • Reno

I agree Rick that it’s an over inflated position and he would get much more than that but about half way through the year he was a major disappointment who was not only not getting pressure he was not good against the run either. It really did not matter how he played tonight I would have felt the same way. His last two sacks were gimmies by the way. The one last week the tackle fell down and the game before he chased the quarterback out of bounds. I also know on some of his sacks he either beat a running back of tightend. I’m curious to know how many sacks he had by beating the RT one on one. There were handful of other games where he disappeared in getting any pressure. I will say his worth more than Mitchell and Allen but that’s not saying much since they are currently way overpaid as well.

  • Seymour Bottoms

    1. My left tackle is the same as your left tackle
    2. It appeared to me that the hand just grazed the facemask not grabbed it on that AB tackle
    3. Replayed shows that he was touched and down prior to the endzone. We scored anyway so that point is moot.
    4. Skipped a down? No clue what you are talking about. You must not have been paying attention.
    5. Refs arent suppose to throw flags just to make sure each team has the same amount of penalties. Its a lack of discipline something we have lacked for a while, i blame Tomlin for that.
    6. I dont think it was poorly officiated, sure i would like to see them let the guys play but when penalties are as obvious as most were you have to call them.
    7. The reason we lost this game was because they didnt play to their best abilities and you cant keep kicking fg’s in the playoffs, you have to score tds.

  • Seymour Bottoms

Well said. Im getting tired of all these people complaining about the refs costing us the game.

  • Hypo Cycloid

Flacco has only had an average d once. This year.
Maybe the tv had it wrong, but they put up Flucco as 82. Regardless, I will still take Ben anytime. I don’t trust a qb that is inconsistent all year just to turn it on in the playoffs. Does he have a poor work ethic in season? Or is the playoffs a fluke?

  • Phil Brenneman II

Anyone have access to a snap count for tonights game?

  • Seymour Bottoms

The year he won the Superbowl his defense was ranked in the 20s. I dont think its a fluke, he has 5 straight playoff games with a rating over 100. He has more games with a 100 rating in the playoffs than Ben does of games with 90+. Its like Manning, best in the league in the regular season but in the playoffs he chokes. Flacco is the opposite of that, if they make the playoffs they are a legitimate threat as long as he is their quarterback.

  • Rick M

Agree, the refs didn’t cost us the game at all. The team just played poorly on both sides of the ball.

  • Rick M

Keyed in Steelers-Ravens Stats ‘search’ and it says possession was 35-24 minutes for us. Steelers had 67 total rushes and passes and 5 sacks against them. Ravens had 54 total rushes and passes, and allowed one sack. Unofficial of course.

  • Hypo Cycloid

OK, thought you were a Ravens fan for some reason, my apologies. It’s late. Doesn’t change a thing though.
    1. Ravens left tackle clearly held Harrison multiple times, never called.
    2. His hand on mask caused Brown’s head to move. Would have been a 5 yarder in years past. We can disagree on that.
    3. Replay didn’t show me that. Or even Michels/Collinsworth! Also, on replay, I couldn’t tell if anyone touched him. It needs to be conclusive is the point. That was not conclusive. On both counts. Poor officiating was my point regardless that we scored a td.
    4. You need to pay attention. Last drive of half. Last set of downs. 1st and 10 incomplete. 2nd and 10 illegal offensive shift called. Ref says “5 yard penalty, replay 2nd down”. Instead of 2nd and 15 it is now 3rd and 15. Pass to Heath. 4th and 6 or 7. Kick a field goal with 40 sec. on clock and 1 t/o. Now you know what I am talking about. Maybe we could have gotten a 1st or even a td. I wan’t the only person to take notice.
    5. Agreed. We had our fair share of penalties, but when I see a lot of no calls on the Ravens side, then you have to wonder. If you didn’t see missed calls, fine. We can again agree to disagree. But I blame Tomlin for our team’s behavior too.
    6. They certainly let the Ravens play!
    7. Agreed. Knew we were in trouble after our 1st long drives that only got FG’s. And we didn’t play to the best of our abilities. We lost, I get that. And I am not one to put a lot of blame on the officials, but this was the worst officiated game of the year for PGH. And the officials had a bad day. That affects the game and if the game was called fair, the outcome may or may not have been different. I credit Flacco with playing well. The Ravens front 7 played well also and we can all see the value of Bell. But I just don’t understand how some people, no matter how bad officiating is, can always say that the officials didn’t have a hand in the game.

  • Matt Manzo

I don’t know who to blame anymore? Ben played bad, Haley’s gameplan seemed odd and Lebeaus D was uninspiring! And Tomlins their boss!

  • Jim Underwood

    2. It was a facemask on the AB tackle. Easy call. The officials looked the other way.
    4. Hypo is right, Seymour. 2nd qtr, 1:08 to play, Steelers got called for an Illegal Shift on offense on 2nd and 10. The official said it was a 5 yard penalty and to replay 2nd down. Then on the very next play it was 3rd and 10? Shoulda been 2nd and 15. I noticed it but the commentators didn’t so I let it go. Our drive ended with a FG after Heath caught a 4 yd pass. It was then ‘4th and 6’. Shoulda been 3rd and 11. None of our coaches were paying attention either, apparently, so we kicked a 47yd FG on what shoulda been 3rd down. That’s part of the reason we weren’t scoring TD’s. Little things like that add up in the end. Hypo was paying attention. You missed it. So did our entire coaching staff. lol Bottom line: it’s unacceptable and game changing.
    5. When we ‘hold’ on a TD play they call it. When they hold here and there throughout an entire scoring drive, it should be called. That’s all. I’ve replayed it. Harrison was held often, by using the Beachum standard.
    6. Call penalties fairly using the same standard. Call Raven holds too. Did they get called for one hold? Not that I recall. Bet they have to kick a lot of FG’s as well then. That’s my point.
    7. See 4 and 5. Like I said, I know it wasn’t our “A” game, but it should have been a lot closer and maybe a win. We’ll never know..

  • Smashmouth

Well it’s done now and complaining won’t change anything best of luck to the ravens in New England as for the Steelers this season ended a lot better than the previous 2 totally not the way i wanted it too but the holes in our game are getting smaller.can’t wait to see the draft class for 2015 goodnight all.

  • I know… had a bad feeling when I found out who the refs were gonna be. Truthfully, that main ref just seems pxssy, all squimish looking and shxt Lolol. I’m drunk… and dissappointed. Shazier looked inspired out, HE forced that fumble and ragdolled forsett like ‘ WHAT BIKE’-deebo

  • ND_Steel

Why do people keep saying we are rebuilding??? This is just BS. Don’t we have a draft every year, just like every other team? And the same salary cap? The only time I’ll buy that an NFL is truly rebuilding is when they don’t have a franchise QB.

  • ND_Steel

We ask Ben to do a heck of a lot more than dump offs and chuck it deep…this is all Joe does. Can’t believe they get away with it, but somehow it works. I hate watching him play.

  • Weiss Chad

To me it’s as simple as coming down to we are rebuilding this defense plain and simple.offense is good enough defense isn’t.Last night one could argue neither offense or defense played good

  • Steve

When you lose your best player a week before its hard to overcome.

  • Douglas Andrews

Hey check around every team had some bad losses including Baltimore who’s moving on in the playoffs. Barely beating the Jag’s losing to the Texans and then struggling to beat Cleveland. So we lost to a few bad teams it happens in the NFL. Bottom line this team went as far as this Defense and BB could take em. Be proud!

  • Douglas Andrews

Come back to reality you didn’t think this defense would win in Denver??? Peyton Manning would’ve had a field day for at least a 40 burger.

  • Sloop John V

A combination of old tendencies resurfacing and glaring weaknesses left unaddressed and subsequently exploited by Baltimore led to the Steeler demise. Offensively, Ben was indecisive in the pocket all night long and the play calling was uninspired leaving little to the imagination. The pocket collapsed time and time again, yet Ben just stood there believing he could fend off his attackers. Defensively, Baltimore receivers were able to uncover at will against the Steeler secondary and Joe Flacco was able to count the laces on the football as he waited patiently for his receiving corps to run their routes. There was no press coverage by the Steeler secondary whatsoever. You cannot allow pro receivers a free release from the line of scrimmage and expect to successfully cover them. The window of opportunity is closing for Ben and as a ten year veteran of NFL wars I never saw a sense of urgency in the course of that game. Ben has three, maybe four more years to achieve his goal of four Super Bowl rings. The indecisiveness has to stop and when the pocket collapses, Ben needs to run and slide or throw it away. No points are awarded in the game of football for standing tall in the pocket and taking on two or three defenders. By the way, release MIke Adams immediately. He replaced Marcus Gilbert late in the game and promptly allowed Dumervil and Company to face plant Ben causing him to leave the game temporarily. Mike Munchak has worked wonders with the offensive line, but Mike Adams is beyond help. Cut him.

  • mannasage

Upset??? The Steelers made more mistakes & Flacco managed the game better than did Ben. Suggs was all over the place, this certainly was no upset.

  • Jeff Lane

The coaches didn’t have the team ready to play.Plus the defense is old in crucial areas like the secondary.Like I said before the trenches in this game was going to determine who was going to win. Baltimore was better this time. No Excuses!!!!!

  • John Meenaghan

That may have been one of the most depressing performances by the Steelers I have ever endured. None of them showed up for a playoff game. And that includes the play calls by the offensive line coaches.

  • Seymour Bottoms

No they did not skip a down. The official originally said 5 yard penalty to replay the down which would of been 2nd and 15 but that was without checking with the Ravens. The Ravens wanted to decline the penalty so therefore it made it 3rd and 10 instead of 2nd and 15. Nothing was wrong there, the ref just assumed they were accepting the penalty but they informed him they were declining it.

  • Seymour Bottoms

I disagree. Barely beating a team doesnt matter as long as you win the game, also the Texans and Browns arent considered bad teams one was 9-7 and other 7-9. The Jets and Bucs have a combined record of 6-26. Those are games you just cant lose but we have made a habit out of it under Tomlin.

Steelers and Ravens know each other better than Bonnie and Clyde knew the sheriffs throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Pittsburgh needed to acknowledge the loss of Bell by coming out in the No Huddle offense and throwing the ball down after down in an effort to exhaust the Raven pass rush. Yes, Ben threw it forty-five times, but never used the No Huddle to the Steelers’ advantage. Raven pass rush stayed fresh and the pocket broke down. Our goose was cooked!

Yea good point. As a Ravens fan I thought it would be Ravens and Cincy competing all year. I should have known better to doubt the Steelers. Always tough games between the two and usually comes down to a few breaks for one of the teams, like the suggs interception.

Fair enough I just feel like last night and the entire season was on BB’s back. We could only go as far as he could take us because this defense had major holes all season.

Splash plays are always the difference and the Suggs INT was a big one. Oh well congrats on the win and good luck in the playoffs.

Disagree, the Ravens running game was indeed a factor when on the Ravens first TD drive. They made it look easy as they took the lead. Granted the Steeler run D did tighten up after that, but overall it was a poor defensive effort by the Steelers, just as it was a bad offensive performance as well.

No I don’t like him as a Player anymore, I admire him, and I am sure he is a future HOF, and I use to cheer for him, but his time has come to an end!

Thank you Troy and Ike, now pls retire,,,Mitchell, Cortez, Adams, Mike T, Haley, and the front office, get a job at the local car wash, line moves a lot slower so you should (maybe) be able to keep up

  • Greg Thrasher

DBs suck for Steelers… Mitchell is the worse others to old

We were the only home team to lose but what hurt most was that we were embarrassed. I never use the excuse that our best player was out. They are all pros and if one player is out someone, anyone has to step up. I have been saying for years, we need at least one shut down corner. Troy is a gamer and he has been a star for us but I don’t know if he has anything left in the tank. Where I live, I think they had maybe 7 or 8 Steeler games on as the one of the games of the week and in those 7 or 8 games, I think I heard Troy’s name mentioned maybe 5 times. I think it is time to part ways.
