Pre-Free Agency Signing Period: Friday Night Five Questions

Steelers Depot Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday to all of you once again and if you’re reading this it means that you have survived another week.

Not only will most of us spring ahead this weekend, this weekend will also be the final one before the start of the new league year and the free agency signing period. While teams can’t officially sign free agents until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, they can begin negotiating with players as soon as Saturday evening. That means there will be a lot of news to digest over the coming days and any of it related to the Pittsburgh Steelers will be posted on the site in a timely manner.

As usual, I have five questions for you to answer this Friday with most of them being related to free agency and the Steelers. I hope that you will spend a minutes to answer each one in the comments below and I thank all of you for visiting the site this week. Peace and love, peace and love.

1 – At the time of this post, the Steelers have yet to re-sign soon-to-be unrestricted free agents Matt Spaeth, Arthur Moats and Brice McCain. If allowed to choose just one of those three players to be re-signed, tell me which one that you would pick and why.

2 – Former sports agent Joel Corry believes that Steelers soon-to-free agent linebacker Jason Worilds should start off the signing period by commanding $10.75 million per season. While using an average yearly value can sometimes be dangerous, do you believe that Worilds will get more or less than that average from whomever he ultimately signs with?

3 – Name me one reasonable free agent player that the Steelers should go after early in the signing period. If you say Ndamukong Suh, I might be forced to block you from the site forever and deal with you one-on-one in the afterlife. Please be reasonable.

4 – The last time the Steelers signed a defensive free agent that was 30 years old or older and had never played for the organization before was in 2001 when they signed linebacker Mike Jones. Is this the year that drought is broken?

5 – True or false: If the Steelers decide to keep defensive end Cam Thomas until after the start of the new league year, he will still be on the roster when training camp begins.

Bonus – Would you rather punch me in the face or in the jejunum if given the opportunity?
