Cornerbacks Eric Rowe, Doran Grant Highlight Steelers Tuesday Pre-Draft Visitors

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entertaining three more pre-draft visitors on Tuesday and two of them are cornerbacks.

Ohio State cornerback Doran Grant, Utah cornerback Eric Rowe and North Dakota State outside linebacker/defensive end Kyle Emanuel are all currently visiting with the organization.

During his career at Utah, Rowe played both safety and cornerback. He had a great showing at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine where he measured in at 6-1, 205-pounds. He ran a 4.45 second 40-yard dash and a 3.97 second 20-yard shuttle. Rowe recorded 13 defensed passes in 2014 and one interception.

Grant, who measures in at 5-10, is expected to be drafted in the third or fourth round. He registered five interceptions last season at Ohio State and defensed eight other passes.

Emanuel, who led the FCS with 19.5 sacks and 32.5 tackles for loss last season, is expected to be a 3-4 outside linebacker at the NFL level. He figures to be drafted in the fifth or sixth round of the upcoming draft.

    Guys looooooove Eric Rowe

  • Birdman

Rowe in play at 22? I won’t be surprised if he is.

  • PittsburghSports

Marcus Peters, Byron Jones, Eric Rowe, Kevin Johnson and Trae Waynes. Those are my top 5 CBs. I have all 5 going in the 1st rd too and in that order(11,18, 20, 22, 25). Also have Jalen Collins going at 31 too. Probably a little crazy to think 6 CBs get taken in rd 1 lol. Oh well.

  • steelburg

I love Eric Rowe and his position flexibility. I’m also a fan of Kyle Emanuel in the later rounds. Small typo in the article Rowe doesn’t weigh 2015 lbs lol.

  • Bill Sechrengost

Well, the Steelers are certainly doing their due diligence at the CB position. It seems like any CB who can be drafted in the first three rounds is coming in for a visit. I would think they don’t have too many more to go, though. Can’t wait for the draft to get here!

  • LucasY59

The 1st rd hype of Rowe seems a little much, the scouting profile showed that he might be better suited to play S and might struggle in the NFL as a CB, IF they think he will be that good at FS then maybe use the 1st rd pick on him, but there are probably 22 other guys I would rather have, so he would not be my target for the 1st rd pick.

Grant would be ok as a 2nd CB drafted, but think I could find a better use for a 3rd or 4th rd pick.

Emmanuel is definitely one of my favorite late rd prospects

  • LucasY59

Yep it looks like they will take a CB early and probably double up if the value is right

  • blackandgoldBullion

Rowe in the 1st? Really? I think this is the time that the so-called experts start getting silly. Last year I remember the statement, “No way that guy’s going to last past the 2nd round”, attributed to over 100 prospects. Of course, just doing the math, it’s impossible since there’s only 64 picks in the first 2 rounds. There will be players with good potential dropping and they are the types that could really help our Steelers with their depth issues. Oh, how I wish they had an extra 3rd rounder.

  • PapaJuju

Eric Rowe, please let him be the pick at 22.

  • steeltown

    I certainly hope not

  • steeltown

I’d be happy with selecting any of them

  • Bill Sechrengost

I wouldn’t be surprised to see 1st and 3rd round CB’s taken, although I don’t think that will happen. They definitely have a need for multiple CB’s.

  • Birdman

If a guy like Dulac says there high on someone it;s most likely true. He’s the guy that said they wasn’t interested in Fuller or Dennard and he was right when fans and others thought they was.

  • Dorian James

I totally agree, Emmanuel should be the priority In the 4th.waiting until the 5th is a gamble

  • Vinhuddle

I totally agree with you “totally agree”ing.lol. Just my opinion…gamble on Emmanuel lasting til the 5th, pass on him with the 4th.

  • Iron Cadet

You think those corners will go in that order? Rowe and Johnson before waynes? Man I’d love to bet with you on that haha.

  • John Hinton

I agree especially since his skill set as a Safety appears to line up better as a Free Safety. Getting Rowe would be like a 2 for 1 deal!

  • James Kling

Fuller got drafted one spot before Shazier. How do you know the FO wasn’t interested in him?

  • Birdman

Cause Dulac reported/tweeted that they had no interest in Fuller before Fuller was even picked. He’s around the team. He also said they was going to pick Shazier no matter what, unless Justin Gilbert or Beckham Jr was available. Which also came out to be true.

  • Matt Manzo

Yeah, he and Byron Jones. I know they’re super athletic but they’re missing something on tape. They both seem lacking in good instincts?
Because of the athleticism they’d be good picks, I’m just not sure they’re 1st rounders.

  • PittsburghSports

lol yeah, just the way I see it. Peters is the best CB in the draft, especially if you overlook his attitude issues. I don’t think there’s anyone that doesn’t agree with that. Jones is so talented it’s unreal, plus he’s started a lot games, so there’s a lot to judge him on, and from what’s out there his tape is real good, despite his competition. Rowe is the biggest question mark, but I know Philly loves him and Jones, so if Jones is gone that’s who I think they target. Johnson is like Jones with a huge body of work, and I think Steelers are obviously interested in him. Admittedly, I have Waynes there, just because he’s been considered 1st rd talent forever, but I’ve seen some of his tape and think analysts are right when they say he’s way too grabby. Collins is a need for Saints and a local pick. I’d be happy to bet you just for bragging rights. Who’s your top 6, in order they’re picked, with pick positions?

  • PittsburghSports

Also, there were a ton of people on here that laughed off Kevin Johnson as a 1st rd pick, and now he’s widely considered in Steelers range. Same with Byron Jones. Now that Kozora likes him, all of a sudden they consider him a possibility too. Similar deal with Rowe. I remember last year Darqueze Dennard was considered a top 10 selection and the top CB, but he was 3rd CB taken at 24. Teams take players they like. Just tried to match up players with who I think they fit best with.

  • steelburg

    Agreed.

  • Dorian James

I don’t know,it’s a close one, it would make a nice question for Friday night five questions lol. what do you think Steelers depot???

  • H.K. northern cali

id like all three in black and gold!

  • James Kling

Gotcha. Hearsay. If the Steelers had Fuller available to select and passed, it would have shown they weren’t interested. That didn’t happen. I read the Steelers were actually very interested in Fuller. Plenty of beat writers are “around the team,” doesn’t mean they have a hotline to God.
