Mike Mitchell Fined For Tyler Eifert Hit

It’s starting to feel like there have been more fines stemming from the Steelers/Bengals game than there were points scored. Mike Mitchell told Ray Fittipaldo that the NFL fined him for his hit on Tyler Eifert. Eifert would later leave the game with a concussion as a result of the hit.

Mitchell was called for unnecessary roughness on the play.

If the league fined Mitchell for hitting a defenseless player, it carries a hefty fine. A first offense draws over $23,000 according to the NFL’s fine rulebook.

It marks the second time this season Mitchell has had to give back his money to the NFL. He was fined nearly $9,000 for his late hit on Antonio Gates early in the season.

Mitchell would hurt his shoulder later in the game. He will be listed as probable on the official Friday injury report later this afternoon.

Vontaze Burfict, Antonio Brown, and David DeCastro have all been fined for incidents that took place during the course of the game.

Here’s a look at the Eifert hit that drew the flag and fine.
