The initial snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday loss to the Baltimore Ravens are now in and there are a few things worth noting in the numbers.
As you can tell on the offensive side of the football, the Steelers quickly got away from having two or more tight ends on the field as that is evident in the snaps that Matt Spaeth and Jesse James played. Nothing else sticks out on offense outside of Fitzgerald Toussaint getting a few early carries after DeAngelo Williams had a long run early in the game.
Defensively, it’s discouraging that safety Will Allen had to play nearly every snap. Fellow safety Mike Mitchell missed several snaps with a shoulder injury and safety Shamarko Thomas even played 2 snaps against the Ravens.
Cornerback Antwon Blake played 41 snaps before leaving around halftime with back spasms. Rookie cornerback Doran Grant saw the field for 1 snap Sunday and that was the first defensive snap of his career. For perhaps the first time this season, the duo of Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree logged more snaps than the James Harrison and Arthur Moats pairing.
