Report: Ravens Interested In Kelvin Beachum

Brace yourself, Steelers’ fans. Because one player might be taking the short trip South to the land of the crab cakes.

The Baltimore Ravens are interested in left tackle Kelvin Beachum, according to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala.

The move would make sense for Baltimore. Kelechi Osemele, who finished the year at left tackle, is about to sign a monster deal with the Oakland Raiders. And the team is likely to release Eugene Monroe, thought to be the franchise left tackle when the team brought him in. Injuries have quickly derailed that thought, leaving really only James Hurst as the only Raven with respectable left tackle experience.

Beachum is likely to sign a one year deal, regardless of where he does, to rebuild his value after tearing his ACL midseason in 2015. Last night, a report came out the Steelers were still interested in doing a deal if the market was cold enough, driving down his value and cap hit, but if there are other teams like Baltimore, it’s unlikely Pittsburgh will be able to keep him. Alejandro VIllanueva will serve as the team’s left tackle if Beachum goes elsewhere. Tackle depth, however, will be an issue, with zero comfortable options on the current roster.

Stay tuned for updates the rest of the day. Free agency officially begins at 4 PM/ET today.
