The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers 2016 Draft Class, Rookie Snap Predictions, Mike Adams & More

Season 6, Episode 109 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I start things off by talking a little more about the Pittsburgh Steelers 2016 draft class in addition to a few of their undrafted free agents that they signed.

As we usually do at this time of year, David and I attempt to predict how much playing time each of the Steelers draft picks will receive during their rookie seasons and we lay out some over/under numbers for all of you to comment on.

The Steelers released tackle Mike Adams on Thursday so David and I look back at his career in Pittsburgh. That discussion leads to us talking about the Steelers 2012 draft class as a whole as guard David DeCastro is now the only remaining member of it.

David had Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert on his show this past week so we discuss a few things he had to say about cornerback Artie Burns and the decision to not pick up the fifth-year option on outside linebacker Jarvis Jones.

We end this show by talking about the future of outside linebacker Arthur Moats past the 2016 season in addition to what positions the Steelers might focus on the most at the top of the 2017 NFL Draft.

As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.

Great podcast as always guys. It is going to suck having a week off so let’s keep it to that and no longer lol.

I have a question for you Dave. Looking at the Timmons situation I understand there was no need to restructure and that is to the good but there is still the fact that he will be very overpaid this year if they don’t work a new deal. So I guess I have a couple of questions:

    1. What could they reasonable expect to save by doing a new deal?
    2. What good reason is there not to do that and to go for or have potentially gone for more of a top flight free agent at one of the positions of need.

Let’s just say for example they didn’t sign Ricardo Matthews so they have that money along with whatever they would get from a new Timmons deal. Do you think that would have been enough to get a starting level NT in FA?
