Steelers Injury Report: C Cody Wallace Suffers Knee Injury Late Against Eagles

The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped their second preseason game of 2016 Thursday night as they were shutout 17-0 at Heinz Field by the Philadelphia Eagles. While the team appeared to avoid any serious injuries for most of the game, backup center Cody Wallace did suffer a knee injury very late in the contest.

“Cody Wallace got hurt with his left knee there, maybe a hyper-extension late,” said head coach Mike Tomlin after the game. “I don’t know the extent of it, it was maybe the last, or second to last play or so. He’ll be evaluated.”

Wallace wound up playing quite a few snaps Thursday night after relieving starting center Maurkice Pouncey. Last year, Wallace was the team’s starting center after Pouncey was lost for the entire season due to a leg injury.

Wallace was the only player listed by Tomlin during his post game injury rundown.

    That sucks. Speedy recovery.

Such an unnecessary injury – at that point in the game throw anyone else in to go through the motions of finishing the game…not the guy who started 16 games for us last year

  • Ryan Roberts

    he will be alright

  • Michael Mosgrove

the one play he was on and got flagged on he also got injured?

  • dany

last play or so?? I love tomlin but it’s just stupid to have him out there at that time. He’s a backup yes, but a main backup, possibly at three positions, one of them to a center with very bad injury luck. Hope it’s just a scare..

    Opens the door for Finney

  • CoFine

Finney doesn’t want in like that.

Overall, a good game for injuries. I can’t complain

  • treeher

Wonder why we had such ironmen for so many years at center … now we can’t hardly keep them healthy.

  • popsiclesticks

That is weird. There’s not somebody else that can handle those snaps in preseason week 2? Valerie Hyphen-Firstlast or whatever?
