D-Will On Bell’s Return: “Look Out Chiefs”

Le’Veon Bell is back. And DeAngelo Williams is giving the Kansas City Chiefs fair warning.

In an Instagram post responding to how much he expects to play tomorrow, Williams mostly deflected and just seemed genuinely happy to have #26 back on the field.

“I’m excited to see the young, hungry bull eat. I want to see him eat. And what I’ve seen in practice from him, look out Chiefs. You got trouble on your hands.”

On how much I'm expecting to play tomorrow night vs. KC…

Bell, by all accounts, is expected to be used like normal in his debut game. Which is to say, he’ll be the feature back and play the majority of snaps. That doesn’t mean Williams will be left without a role, it’s likely they are both on the field in certain situations, and he’ll likely see a series or two as the main back, but Bell is running the show.

Against the Chiefs a year ago, Bell rushed for 121 yards on 17 carries – a 7.1 average – in a 23-13 loss. But that was a game without Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback. Clearly, they’re expecting to score more than the 13 points they did a year ago.

Kansas City’s run defense is vulnerable, despite the talent they have, allowing 4.2 yards per carry. Part of the issue is the linebackers. They’ve been using safety Daniel Sorensen about half the time as an inside linebacker to replace Justin March-Lillard.

Pittsburgh’s rushing offense is ranked 18th in yards and 19th in yards per carry.
