Steelers Injury Report: Marcus Gilbert, Ryan Harris, Ryan Shazier Sit Out Again Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Thursday practice ahead of Sunday’s home game against the New York Jets and the team’s daily injury report doesn’t differ too much from the one they released on Wednesday.

Not practicing on Thursday were cornerback Justin Gilbert (knee), center/guard Cody Wallace (knee), tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle), cornerback Senquez Golson (foot), tackle Ryan Harris (shin), wide receiver Eli Rogers (toe), and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee). Wallace, Golson and Rogers have already been ruled out for Sunday’s game and it’s starting to look like both Gilberts, Harris and Shazier won’t be suiting up as well.

Should Marcus Gilbert and Harris indeed wind up sitting out Sunday, Chris Hubbard will make his first career start at right tackle with starting center Maurkice Pouncey likely being the one to back him up.

Limited on Thursday were Jarvis Jones (ankle) and safety Robert Golden (hamstring). Jones seems to be moving in the right direction, however, as he had failed to practice on Wednesday. As for Golden, he’ll probably need to practice fully on Friday if he is to play on Sunday.

Practicing fully again on Thursday were linebacker Anthony Chickillo (knee), guard Ramon Foster (chest), wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder), and fullback Roosevelt Nix (back), so it looks like all four should be able to play on Sunday. If Nix does play, it will be the first game he’s suited up for all season. Foster looks to return to the starting lineup Sunday after missing the team’s Week 4 game.

Running back DeAngelo Williams (not injury related) also practiced fully on Thursday after being given Wednesday off as a maintenance day.

Should the Steelers wind up needing to make a roster move or two due to all of their injuries, that will likely happen on Saturday. Candidates who could wind up being promoted from the team’s practice squad on Saturday include tackle Matt Feiler, cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz and linebacker Travis Feeney depending on which players on the 53-man roster are ultimately ruled out on the Friday injury report.
