Steelers Add WR Marcus Tucker To Practice Squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a practice squad move on Tuesday as wide receiver Marcus Tucker was signed to the 10-man unit and he fills the open spit that was created when cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz was promoted to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

Tucker, was with the Steelers during training camp. He was signed originally after being invited by the Steelers to take part in the team’s rookie mini camp on a tryout basis. During the preseason, Tucker caught 3 passes for 23 yards. He was waived this past September during the final round of cuts.

Tucker, who reportedly measured in at his March pro day at 5-10, 192 pounds, led Northern Michigan last season in receptions (79), tied for first in receiving touchdowns (9) and ranked second in receiving yards (813).

The addition of Tucker to the practice squad is probably related to veteran wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey suffering a mid-foot injury during the first-half of Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He’s expected to be sidelined a while with his injury.
