Steelers Sign RB Brandon Brown-Dukes To Practice Squad

On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed running back Daryl Richardson to their 53-man roster from the team’s practice squad and on Monday they filled that vacated spot with a familiar face.

Signed to the practice squad on Monday was running back Brandon Brown-Dukes, who was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent this past May out of Mercyhurst.

After failing to make the Steelers 53-man roster out of training camp, Brown-Dukes was signed to the team’s practice squad. He was released from the 10-man unit two weeks into the regular season and that unemployment only last a few days as he was re-signed back to the practice squad the following week. However, that second stint only lasted one week as he was again released.

During the preseason, Brown Dukes carried the football six times for 7 yards and caught two passes for another 15 yards in the three games that he played in.

With veteran running back DeAngelo Williams currently sidelined with a knee injury and starting running back Le’Veon Bell coming off a game that featured him touching the football 37 times, the Steelers probably needed an extra body to help absorb a few carries during their short week of practices.
