Watch: Javon Hargrave’s Breakout Game

Back to our weekly talking to the tape section. And this one is my favorites. Javon Hargrave might have grown up before our eyes on Thanksgiving against the Indianapolis Colts. It was easily the best game of his short career and we break down the highlights. We look at his pass rushing ability, his run defense, and his effort to the football. He checked positive marks in all three areas.

Let me know what you think of the rookie and his performance against the Colts in the comments below. And be sure to stick around for our weekly chat at 2:30 PM/ET.

Alex. Do the Depot and the rest of the free world a favor and invest in a better microphone or take it out of your mouth. Thank you.

  • Jacob

The mic may have been okay, but it was over modulated due to turning it up too high.

  • Jacob

Loved going over tape with you, Alex. Keep up the good work.

    This, it’s too hot.

  • Spencer Krick

    Great work as always Alex.

Hargrave first step a juke step to get lineman going one way, then Javon goes to the other shoulder giving him huge advantage. Steel Curtain being forged anew.

Hargrave has that ultra big lower body that allows him to remain upright even against big boys. I predict that when his upper body gets stronger (Please go train with Silverback), he can really be amazing. Those feet are amazing for a big man.

As far as right now, he has already showed us he can hold his own and make some special plays. Fine stuff from a rookie. Go Gravedigger!

Alex was Hargrave subbing for Tuitt and Hewyard before Hewyard got injuried?

  • PapaJuju

very little. He is getting more opportunities now obviously.

My audio has been very wonky…i make a mention of it at the beginning of the video. It sounds a lot better than it did when I was testing it. I’m using the same mic (a pretty good one too) that I’ve used all year. I made sure it was far away from my mouth, it was actually turned away from me as part of my trouble shooting.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Not really sure what is going on but if anyone can help me out, then I’m all ears.

I think after the first couple seconds, which for whatever reason, always is too hot, it’s ok.

  • Alex Kozora

    What he said.

That dude has the biggest ass I have ever seen. I swear it goes all the way down to his knees.

  • Spencer Krick

Does the mic have a gain or are you restricted to adjusting the gains on the PC?

  • Spencer Krick

If you’ve fiddled with the setting for a while, if you can, try using it on a different PC. There’s a chance it could be a sound card problem.

  • Alex Kozora

I just have a volume control. I did have it higher than usual so maybe I need to turn it back down. I think the issue is mainly with my recording software. Using OBS. It seems like it can get weird. I’ll have to keep playing around with it. But I think the headphones are good. They were like $55 and everything else, they sound fine.

  • Alex Kozora

    Thanks for watching, Jacob!

  • Alex Kozora

    Thanks Spencer!

  • Spencer Krick

Does it work just fine with other programs, like teamspeak or Skype?

Someone with a similar problem was told to Go to Control Panel > Sound and adjust the volume levels of your playback and mic there if you aren’t able to get them at the desired levels in OBS.

That’s all google could tell me anyways.

Buy yourself a good free-standing desk top mic. I use a good Samson that retailed around a few hundred bucks. A pop shield or filter might be $25. Rule one I learned in digital media a long time ago. Folks will forgive bad video, but not audio. Also, make sure your “manage audio devices” is set to the microphone instead of stereo mix.

  • Alex Kozora

Yeah I dunno, I still think it’s the program more than it is my mic. My mic has worked fine in the past.

Yeah, I’m a comm major, so I know all about the horrors of bad audio. Trust me, no one is bugged by it more than me and that’s why I spent a good 30-45 minutes trying to get it as best as possible. The thing I thought that helped the most was setting everything to my mic. I just might need to lower the volume. Thanks man.

  • Alex Kozora

Yeah as far as I’m aware, it works fine with everything else. I’ve used it for the podcast before.

Then I think the key is to fiddle with the windows and OBS settings until you get the desired sound.

We call it an anchor to be polite.

  • dany

    do u remember Hampton’s?

  • Taylor Williams

Hampton was balanced. Big stomach and ass. Hargrave has a smaller stomach.
