No official update on Ben Roethlisberger from the team, that won’t come until tomorrow, but the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport did provide us with some good news today.
He’s reporting Roethlisberger’s ankle injury “checked out ok,” and at worst, he suffered a sprain.
Roethlisberger made media waves yesterday after appearing for his post game press conference with a boot on his right ankle. He injured it on his final attempt when Cameron Wake fell on it, as you can see in the cover photo. Ben vowed to play this week against the Kansas City Chiefs and while that’s likely, there is now a question over if he’ll be limited in practice and his overall effectiveness on Sunday.
Again, Mike Tomlin should provide some sort of update tomorrow during his weekly Tuesday press conference. Tomlin did not mention Ben in his post-game injury report though Roethlisberger didn’t look too worse for wear coming off the field.
Tomlin will also certainly be asked about his decision to leave Roethlisberger in the game. I’d like to say I’m looking forward to that answer but Tomlin is generally dismissive about those things so don’t expect much of a reaction from him.
UPDATE (2:22 PM)
Roethlisberger told Ron Cook he is out of his boot. The injury was an aggravation of a previous foot injury.
