The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Coaching Staff, Free Agent Targets, Draft Player Profiles & More

Season 7, Episode 83 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd once again and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff and how it’s looking like it might remain in intact this offseason.

We talk about Steelers wide receivers coach Richard Mann in addition to special teams coordinator Danny Smith, who Alex has an upcoming article about.

The Steelers have signed quit a few players over the course of the last few weeks so we catch you up on all the team transactions and talk about a few of those players.

Will the Steelers sign an experienced free agent cornerback in the coming weeks? Alex and I talk about one who was released on Thursday and another one who might be released in the coming weeks and if the Steelers will have interest in either of them.

Steelers defensive tackle Daniel McCullers claims he wants to lose some weight during the offseason so Alex and I spend some time talking about him and his immediate future in Pittsburgh.

With the annual scouting combine getting underway next week, Alex and I make sure to discuss a few players we recently broke down on the site that could interest the Steelers in addition to talking about when general manager Kevin Colbert will hold his next press conference.

As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.

Gay has lost a step, but he should be brought back because he is still valuable and has versatility for a very reasonable price. He’s hasn’t gotten to that Will Allen, falling off a cliff place yet. He’s a great team player and I’m guessing a good mentor to the young guys.

McCullers has flashed great at times. Too bad he isn’t more consistent.

Based on the flashes and lack of necessity on the D line I would say you could write McCullers down in ink. I would put him anywhere from 90-95% as a roster lock.

As far as Gay goes I am in the camp for keeping him. He didn’t have a great year but neither did anyone in our defensive backfield. He is intelligent, a great team guy, and a leader in the locker room and I always edge towards keeping guys like him around until we develop some new leaders, if for nothing else.
