  • Kenneth Wilt

Just from a curiosity perspective. How did you guys do last year? I am at the point that I have NO IDEA what they are really going to do. ILB? OLB? S? CB? I just don’t know any more.

  • blue

    30 Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama
    60 Tim Williams OLB Alabama
    94 Jabrill Peppers SS Michigan
    105 Jordan Leggett TE Clemson
    135 James Conner RB Pitt
    173 Kendell Beckwith ILB LSU
213 Chad Kelly QB Ole Miss
    248 Treyvon Hester DE Toledo

  • Hagen Rinde

    Watt ever, lol

  • PaeperCup

    I like Marczi’s the best.

Although I’m not IN LOVE any one of them, but they all make a lot of sense.

  • Big White

How Kazora can like a WR in round 2 after infinite columns about the Steeler’s depth at WR is priceless.

  • Dr. Bacon

Just a few more hours and we can be done with the speculation of who and start the speculation of what they might bring to the table.

  • Jeff Papiernik

If Browns take Trubisky #1 overall, I can see it now. “What if I told you a sure thing… wasn’t a sure thing. 30 for 30 presents, Myles Away.”

  • JamesinNYC

Are you 100% sure Bryant will be there for 2 years? 90%? 50%?

  • Big White

AB, Coates, Rodgers. What’s wrong with those guys. Besides Coates’ fingers being snapped, that was really the only down side to that unit.

  • Matt Correll

LOL! That is gold! I’m setting my DVR already.

  • John Hinton

    Well done Sir!

  • Ward Holder

I find it interesting that almost no one is taking the chatter about a relatively higher pick on a TE seriously. Was it just smokescreen?

  • Steve Johnson

Add QB. Seems as though many reports has them taking DeShawn Kizer out of Notre Dame.

  • Brian Tollini

I think it says more that he likes Chris Godwin and less that he doesn’t like the current roster.

  • Jim Foles

All of the above in some order going 1,2,3,4.. ilb, olb, cb, s

  • Steve Johnson

Wouldn’t touch Jabrill Peppers, definitely wouldn’t take Chad Kelly.

  • Jim Foles

    Hunter will surprise also..

  • Jim Foles

    Kaaya 90%

  • Justin Warrenfeltz

How about the fact they had all season to step up last year and not a single one of them scared offensive DBs in the slightest (save AB)? Rogers, Coates, Ayers, Wheaton all had chances to shine. None did. I’m not buying Hunter is the answer, though I’m obviously interested to see what he has. Bryant is no sure thing, with a year off from football, and one joint away from a permanent ban. If someone like Godwin falls to you in the second, you grab him and run.

  • PaeperCup

But who do you bump for another unproven player?

  • Justin Warrenfeltz

Take your pick. I haven’t seen anything from Rogers, Coates, or Ayers to suggest they’re the answer as our #3 (or #2 if Bryant washes out). Obviously I could be wrong, and I’m fine with being that, but I think the value at 62 for Godwin is tremendous.

  • PaeperCup

Still, swapping an unproven with an unproven, all the while “wasting” a draft pick that could address another need on the team.

I personally do think Coates has shown plenty to be considered a #3, although there is some ?’s regarding his health. Rodgers also has shown tons of potential especially in the slot.

  • Justin Warrenfeltz

I can’t disagree with you on your reasoning. But the best teams get ahead, in my opinion, by drafting the best player available, not drafting for needs. And while I’d love to see the top three rounds chock full of DBs and LBs, I think Godwin is a steal at 62. I actually don’t think he’ll even be around remotely that long, so the point is moot.

  • PaeperCup

haha yeah probably is. Happens every year, all this pre-draft chatter becomes irrelevant because the draft takes a direction that no one could predict. It is fun to speculate though.

  • Justin Warrenfeltz

It is, haha. And I’ve had some great discussions on here with various people, which I really enjoy this time of year when not much else is going on in football. I sincerely hope Bryant comes back as a dominant #2 to take some of the heat off of AB. And that either Rogers or Coates cements their spot in the slot. But I’ve been a Steelers fan long enough to know not to count on these things happening when there are reasons to at least question whether either is going to happen. Personally? I think this will be a watershed year for the Steelers receiving corps. AB will do his thing like he’s always done. And Bryant looks in phenomenal shape, so I can only imagine the havoc he’s going to wreak in the secondary. And having three potential candidates at the #3 spot with as much talent as Rogers, Coates, and maybe even Ayers has is really a luxury that I don’t take for granted. Call me cautiously optimistic. But at the same time, I admittedly have a huge draft crush on Godwin, haha.

  • Justin Warrenfeltz

I just ran a sim on Fanspeak, letting the computer pick without any input from me, and this is what they mocked for the Steelers:
    R1P30 QB DESHONE KIZER
    R2P30 EDGE DEREK RIVERS
    R3P30 WR AMARA DARBOH
    R3P41 TE JAKE BUTT
    R4P28 CB DAMONTAE KAZEE
    R5P29 S MONTAE NICHOLSON
    R6P29 G KYLE KALIS
    R7P30 LB BEN BOULWARE

I would’ve taken TJ Watt, Obi Melifonwu, or Tre White with that first round pick instead of Kizer. Also probably would’ve gone James Conner over Kazee.

  • Shannon Stephenson

I feel that Dave Bryans draft seems the most accurate.

  • Paddy

Hunter may not make team if he can’t excel at special teams

  • Paddy

No way they get Davis & Rivers 30 & 62 unless they trade up two third rd picks

  • capehouse

Wow everyone’s drinking the James Conner ice tea.

  • Donte Williams

they can if davis is there they may take him and Derek is late round 2 range every mock i dont did i get him in the second round or 3rd if i take another person

  • Donte Williams

2 & 5 are good the rest hecks nah. if they take a QB i with the depot panel Ill take Dobbs with the Comp pick or no QB at all i think they were just doing their scouting this year for next years class cause if you think about when have they actually did a full blown scouting on QBs except 2014 the year they took ben

  • Donte Williams

i see godwin being our 3rd pick or comp pick it all depends if there is a run on WRs and even if we dont get him Galladay big and fast

  • Donte Williams

bur rogers had his first full year last year the year prior he was hurt. Coats was doing his thing before he got the broken fingers after that his confidence went to shyt. ayers was a 6th round draft pick who non thought he would even make it but he had some big catches when given the opportunity our WR core is in good shape if all stay healthy and out of trouble. you add Godwin or Galladay thats notches it up even more

  • blue

Peppers is best athlete. Kelly has a cannon.

  • Donte Williams

hunter will make team colbert tomlin era to my knowledge have never cut a F/A they signed prior to the start of the season

  • Shane Mitchell

My revised thinking outside the box mock

    1. ILB Zach Cunningham
    2. DE Tanoh Kpassagnon
    3. WR Josh Reynolds
    3. CB Shaquill Griffin
    4. OLB Samson Ebukam
    5. TE Michael Roberts
    6. RB James Conner
    7. LB Javancy Jones

Wanted a safety in there but dont have enough picks to get one early and keep the front seven strong, going to use Tanoh as my pass rushing specialist in sub package, went with Cunningham over Davis because of his size in coverage, Ebukam has as much potential as any other OLB prospect and I am not forcing him into the lineup right away taking our best defensive player off the field because of draft status. Going to use Tanoh pass rushing off the edge and inside to keep everyone fresh to get after the QB with a 4 man rush.

  • Donte Williams

second or third round i dont see it happening in the first unless all their top 5 CBs are gone or TOP ILBs are gone cause i see them still getting Rivers Lawson Basham or WIllis in the second

  • Donte Williams

not bad Mr Shane Mitchell i still a sucker for Rivers I just think he is Steelers through and through small school product that can be a dog like harrison

  • Shane Mitchell

I like Rivers too, but I would have to take him in the second, if I could get him in the third maybe I would flip flop the WR pick for him.

  • Shane Mitchell

I dont know I still think Evan Engram is a darkhorse pick especially if we trade back 5 or 6 spots as BPA.

  • PaeperCup

Man if Bryant is as good as I hope (he is looking really good right now), and AB is AB, then why do we need another WR haha? But nothing is certain. One injury and everything changes.

I have a number of pass catching TE catches myself, another element to consider.

  • Frank

I like M.Marczi Draft the best. He has my guy C.Lawson, & a CB to boot, that would be a Dream scenario to get those 2. Reminds me of 2007, I wanted L.Woodley bad, & as you know they took L.Timmons. But, as you also know, we ended up getting Woodley in RD 2. Hope we are that fortunate tonight.

  • Frank

Would like it more if somehow C.Lawson was there at pick 2.

  • Frank

Peppers in the 3rd would be a steal, but I don’t think he slides that far.

  • Frank

I like Kelly too, late, he can spend time healing, no immediate need for him to play. Good bloodlines too.

  • Rick Tilves

I Like Josh Carney’s Draft the BEST.

  • jconeoone C

Standing ovation with a slow clap

  • Spencer Krick

I’ve been out of town, but I’m back in time. Here’s my last mock for funsies.

    Round 1: Budda Baker, S
    Round 2: Derek Rivers, OLB
    Round 3: Joshua Dobbs, QB
    Round 3c: Kenny Golladay, WR
    Round 4: Alex Anzalone, ILB
    Round 5: Jonnu Smith, TE
    Round 6: Corey Clement, RB
    Round 7: Javancy Jones, ILB/OLB

I’m looking forward to seeing how this draft finally shakes out and welcoming the new Steelers over the next few days. Happy Draft Everyone!

  • Joel Miller

    3rd round. Bank it.
