Ravens Trade DT Timmy Jernigan To Eagles

The Pittsburgh Steelers still have to face Brandon Williams for the foreseeable future but Timmy Jernigan is out of the picture. The Baltimore Ravens shipped Jernigan to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jernigan’s name has been thrown around in trade rumors for the last couple weeks after Williams earned his five year mega-deal that made it nearly impossible for the team to keep Jernigan, who is entering the final year of his deal. Still, it seems like a small return for a talented player and someone who made up the other half of one of the best interior DL duos in college football.

In three seasons with Baltimore, he racked up 13 sacks, including a career high five a year ago. He had one sack and one interception against the Steelers.

Baltimore will likely look to replace him with second year player Michael Pierce, another hefty nose tackle who beat the odds and made the team as a UDFA. But he isn’t nearly as explosive or the pass rusher Jernigan is.
